Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 138: Night Nobody Knows 🌌

Published: September 4, 2025

Satou here. For those who know the dawn of home gaming consoles, “resurrection spells” apparently refer to strings of hiragana characters. When I first heard that, I laughed it off as a joke, but it turned out to be true. It seems humans can surprisingly push themselves hard for the sake of entertainment.

â—‡

Phew, I’m tired.

Both my masks broke, so at Arisa’s request, I put on the white mask made for cosplay. Knowing the original source, it’s scary because I feel like my emotions might vanish. Wearing cheap clothes with a cape, I head toward the hall’s exit.

The hall is in such a wreck that you’d be amazed it hasn’t collapsed yet.

The floor is torn up, several pillars have fallen, and many places are cratered. Some craters have turned glassy, probably due to the Forge. The altar is completely gone without a trace.

As expected of the Demon King, I didn’t think he would be that strong. The level difference was threefold, and even fully equipped with items, it was barely manageable.

It’s a pity there won’t be a rematch—I don’t feel that way at all.

Luckily, the opponent was the type weak to magic; if both of us were proficient, I might have lost.

I’ll learn sword techniques and fighting styles by watching the Duke’s Capital martial arts tournament.

Also, I should definitely restart chanting practice.

If Demon King class enemies start using spatial magic, I don’t think I can win. The scrolls I get from Viscount Seemen will need to include magic destruction and magic cancellation spells. Also, intermediate or higher offensive magic is a must. This time, if it weren’t for the Forge, I might have been stuck. I’ll be sure to send Mr. Garohal, the Dwarf who sold me the Forge scroll, some delicious liquor I find during my travels.

Now, thinking about such things, I open the heavy door and step outside. The reason the door was slightly open from the start becomes clear immediately.

I’m pretty sure there were members here. Searching the storage, I find an item named “Petrified Member.” Oh yeah, the Demon King used petrifying attacks with his magic eyes. Looks like they saw it—curiosity killed the cat, as they say.

I dress the two girls, who were about to be sacrificed, in long shirts. Both looked well-proportioned for their age, not appearing to be just fourteen, so this should keep them safe.

They seem to be priestesses of Garuleon Temple and Parion Temple. Both are level 30, quite respectable.

Carrying the two girls on my shoulders, I head to the teleportation room but don’t know how to operate the teleport device. The operation manual might be among the loot, but honestly, I’m too exhausted to care.

I chip away at the ceiling with the Demonic Spear, exposing the earth.

Then, applying soil wall creation magic, I open a narrow passage. Magic really is convenient.

I rush up the makeshift passage—or rather, hole—using skystride. There were about three members in the teleportation room, but dealing with them is troublesome, so I gave them a short stun. They shouldn’t be dead.

Retracing my steps takes me to the Duke’s third son’s room, so I check the map and choose the course leading to the temple’s underground. On the way, I spot a white crocodile and some mysterious creatures wearing rags but ignore them all. Once I’m feeling better, maybe I’ll come back with gifts.

I’m heading to Tenion Temple, where the dead girl belonged. Not just because of her affiliation, but because only the elderly chief shrine maiden there is a high-level cleric exceeding level 50. Moreover, she holds the title of “Saintess.”

Mechanically following the pre-decided course, I manipulate the girl’s corpse in storage. For a test, I dragged and dropped the blood flowing from her, and it stacked. More accurately, it was absorbed into the corpse, so separation isn’t possible.

I tried the same with a potion, but it didn’t work.

I was curious about the chief shrine maiden of Tenion holding the “Saintess” title. Perhaps it’s a special effect title like the hero’s?
