Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 128: The Disturbance in Gururian City (2) 🏙️

Satou here. I used to visit cat cafes quite often, but since becoming a working adult, my chances to go to zoos or aquariums have drastically decreased. Though they’re safe choices for dates.

â—‡

The ones appearing in Grylian City are the same grade of Low-Rank Demon Race that we saw in Muno City. They’re the same kind—short horn demons—with level 30, and skills like “Mighty Arm,” “Sturdy Body,” “Transformation,” and “Flame Palm.” No magic skills. They seem to be frontline fighters.

Still, it’s certain there were no demons in this city before we arrived. In fact, I’d say there were none anywhere in the entire Duke’s territory. They don’t look like they can use teleportation, so someone must have sent or summoned them here.

I left Lulu and Nana in charge of the horses and carriage. Meanwhile, we pushed through the crowd of fleeing people and proceeded down the street. As we moved, I informed everyone that the enemies ahead weren’t monsters but demon race, sharing their level, skills, and points to be cautious about when fighting.

Every now and then, beyond the crowd, people were thrown into the air as if by a trampoline. Just because they don’t use magic doesn’t mean they’re weak. The fleeing crowd thinned out a bit, and the demon race became visible.

Their appearance was strikingly different from the ones in Muno City—six-armed, gorilla-like creatures. The only common feature was their red, short horns that gave them their species name.

Warriors surrounded the demons in battle. Several destroyed carriages lay scattered, along with countless bodies. Apparently, some survivors were still inside the carriages. The buildings lining the street bore several large holes. Near the demons, a heavily armored warrior holding a blue shell shield confronted them, serving as their shield bearer. He was level 29, comparable to the demons. Maybe reinforcements weren’t necessary?

Ignoring that worry, the demon’s mighty arms sent several warriors flying through the air. They were heading straight for us.

I dashed quickly and caught one of them.

The other two I slowed down by creating two cubes, dissipating their momentum. At least with that, they shouldn’t die. If you’re a man, endure it.

I spoke to the person I caught.

The reason we were deliberately making ourselves conspicuous was because she was near the demons.

“Please don’t be reckless, Miss Karina.”

“Eh, eh, Sa… No, Lord Pendragon.”

Miss Karina, realizing it was me who caught her, called my name in a flustered manner. She stammered but repeatedly folded and unfolded her fingers in front of her chest. What kind of ritual is that? Maybe she’s just shy?

She muttered quietly in my arms, saying things like, “Being held by anyone other than Father…” and “You’re surprisingly strong,” then finished with something nonsensical like, “I wonder if our honeymoon will be in the Royal Capital.” Seems she has no experience with physical contact with the opposite sex.

“Princess carry is forbidden!”

“Mm, forbidden.”

Arisa and Mia caught up from behind and kicked me. Hope they didn’t leave footprints on my butt.

Since Karina had lost nearly 20% of her health despite being protected by Laka, I asked Arisa and Mia to heal her. When I put her down, she grabbed my sleeve for some reason, but even she didn’t know why.

“Master, the front line is collapsing. I’m going to assist!”

Liza declared as she headed toward the battlefield. Pochi and Tama greeted Karina’s left and right “boobs” before charging after Liza. What’s that about? So jealous.

Liza charged, but the demon tried to counter with a triple punch, so I targeted each fist with a short stun.

The demon, losing balance from the short stun, was impaled by Liza’s demonic spear. Of course, the demon blade was activated. The attack only reduced about 5% of the demon’s health, but considering the accumulated damage so far, it might be impressive.

Afterwards, Pochi and Tama simultaneously attacked the demon’s back of the knees, which had lost its stance. The damage was less than 1%, but the demon let out a short scream and retaliated with a tail attack aimed at Pochi and Tama.
