Chapter 76: Poison and Medicine 💊

Published: August 2, 2025

The Next Day

After waking up in the morning, getting ready, and gathering the slimes...

What is this slime?

In front of me was a slime I didn’t recognize. But without a doubt, it was one of the slimes I had contracted with.

I tried a magical beast appraisal...

Medicine Slime

Skills: Medicine Liquid Generation level 3, Poison Resistance level 3, Disease Resistance level 5, Physical Attack Resistance level 1, Jump level 3, Digestion level 3, Absorption level 3, Splitting level 3, Spear Technique level 1

Medicine Slime... I don’t remember contracting with one. Could it be an evolution?

“There’s spear technique in its skills. So originally, it must have been a poison slime!”

Come to think of it, just as medicine can become poison depending on how it’s used, poison can be turned into medicine depending on usage.

“Until now, a slime has never evolved twice. But maybe a second evolution is possible? But why so suddenly? Did it meet some evolution condition somewhere?”

The type of slime evolution depends on what it eats. So, is the evolution condition for Medicine Slime some kind of medicine? When... now that I think about it, the night before last, some medicine was spilled and somehow cleaned up. I thought it was the cleaner slime that did it, but could it have been this one?

To confirm, I gathered the poison slimes and poured one bottle of the antidote from before into a stone container, offering it to them. Then, five slimes gathered around the container and started drinking the antidote.

“Oh, they’re drinking it. So it really is poison slime...”

I spilled only one bottle last time, and one poison slime evolved. Doing the math, five slimes need five bottles, so I added four more bottles of antidote to the container.

While they were drinking, I prepared several more containers and gave instructions to the Medicine Slime.

“Show me what kinds of medicine you can make.”

As I said that and presented the containers, the Medicine Slime started spitting various liquids into them—ranging from sticky fluids to watery ones.

I checked them one by one.

Wound Medicine

Hemostatic Agent

Antidote

Poison (Immediate Effect)

Poison (Delayed Effect)

Paralysis Poison (Immediate Effect)

Paralysis Poison (Delayed Effect)

Antibacterial Medicine

“Oh, quite a range... So poison and medicine are both considered under medicine liquid generation after all... What’s this antibacterial medicine?”

I appraised it, and this is what came up:

Antibacterial Medicine

A liquid with strong sterilizing properties generated inside the body of the Medicine Slime.

When applied, it kills bacteria and viruses adhering to the applied area.

Must be stored in a sealed container, or its moisture will evaporate quickly. Harmless to humans.

Isn’t that disinfectant!? That’s great! I was a bit worried about hygiene when going outside the duchy of Jamil.

...By the way, it feels like quite some time has passed. I should visit the shop!

Hurrying, I gathered all the slimes and headed to town, but the shop was already open.

Entering through the employee entrance, I met Mr. Calm.

“Good morning, shop manager.”

“Good morning, Mr. Calm.”

“Shop manager, is something wrong recently?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“You’ve been coming after opening time these past two days, unlike before when you arrived before the shop opened. I wondered if something had happened.”

“Ah… no problem. I’ve just been busy the last couple of days.”

“I see? Well, if anything comes up, please let us know.”

“Thank you.”

“Also, since we’re talking about it, from now on we’d like you to come in during this time slot.”

This time slot?

“Why is that?”

“When you come before opening, you tend to do all the preparation work yourself, leaving nothing for the junior staff. It’s good training for the newcomers, so please get used to delegating work and using your subordinates.”

So I was stealing their work...

“I see, can’t be helped then.”

I understand the reason, but that means even less work for me... Oh, I need to talk about the windows.
