Side Story

In a certain place within the divine realm.

A god in the form of a gaunt man was standing when three new gods appeared.

"Ah... I'm tired..."

"Finally back, huh."

"What is it, Felnoberia? So you came after all?"

"It's rare to see you leave your own domain."

The one standing was Felnoberia, the magic god.

The three gods were Gain, Kufo, and Lurutia, who had brought along the dragon horse.

"I was brought forcefully, but I was a bit curious as well."

"F-F-Forcefully?"

At that question, four gods suddenly appeared from somewhere and surrounded Gain and the others.

"Eh, wait, what's going on here?"

"Why are we being surrounded?"

"Care to explain?"

At those words, a god stepped forward. It was Tekun.

"Put your hand on your chest and ask yourself. Don’t say you don’t understand."

"Why are you angry all of a sudden!?"

"Now, now, Tekun-san, you can’t talk properly if you crowd us like that."

"Alright, calm down, let's have some drinks."

The two gods who admonished Tekun were Wilieris, the goddess of the earth and fertility, and Glimp, the god of agriculture and livestock. Among the gods, they were especially mild-mannered, appearing as a refined middle-aged woman and a middle-aged man carrying a hoe.

These two were also a married couple. To calm Tekun down, Glimp would drink with him while Wilieris explained things. They worked as a buffer with tacit understanding.

"The reason we took such action is because we heard you were playing around in another world. Tekun was the first to hear about it and, wanting some amusement himself, he angrily gathered us."

Felnoberia interrupted with an explanation.

"Tekun deliberately called Wilieris and Glimp so I could use my power to find you."

"Now that you mention it, you even used divine power to keep Tekun out of your domain..."

"Aside from making things, he's careless and reckless. A troublesome drunk. Annoying."

"Hey, I can hear you!"

"You probably rarely have business with me anyway. Besides, you’re not the only one who can’t enter my domain. ...But setting that aside, what were you thinking going to another world, which is supposed to be off-limits?"

"Wait, who told you that?"

Lurutia asked, and Tekun answered.

"Don’t play dumb. Ryoma-kun told me. Kufo said so too. I felt bad at the time but I read his mind — he wasn’t lying."

Hearing that, Kufo placed a hand on his forehead and muttered, "Ah... I did say not to tell humans, but I never said not to tell gods..."

Deciding to have a proper talk, they sat down on chairs that appeared from nowhere and formed a circle to begin their discussion.

"Well then, tell us. And take me along next time!"

"Leaving aside entertainment, if you’re crossing into another world frequently like this, we can’t ignore it."

"We want to hear the story."

"Indeed... Actually, we were investigating the state of the gods on Earth."

"You mentioned before, right? That Ryoma-kun seemed to be interfered with strangely by Earth’s gods."

"I heard about it. I was surprised to learn they were doing things gods shouldn’t."

"So we just went to check it out a little bit."

"You said you were just playing around?"

"Ryoma-kun hasn’t been told about Earth’s gods from his past life, so I had to bluff on the spot."

At those words, Tekun’s anger immediately subsided.

"So that’s why."

"Tekun, so you were only angry about the entertainment thing..."

"Crossing to another world frequently is also somewhat problematic, you know?"

Felnoberia and Wilieris sighed at Tekun’s reaction. Regaining composure, Felnoberia asked.

"Is there no problem with what you are doing?"

Gain and the others frowned in response.

"There isn’t a problem per se..."

"It was really difficult sneaking over there without getting caught..."

"We didn’t find anything definitive, but something feels off... To varying degrees, we found several people, like Ryoma-kun, who were deliberately made unlucky. But it seems the stolen happiness isn’t being used."

"At first, we thought the stolen happiness was being given to the god’s believers or something. But after investigating, that’s not the case... It’s just taken away and not given to anyone."
