Today, three chapters are updated simultaneously.
This is the third chapter.
"Anyways! That’s why people tend to avoid me."
The young lady was abruptly trying to cut off my story.
Better to go along with the flow here.
“It’s just a case of bad rumors…”
“Some people believe exaggerated gossip outright…”
If parents act that way at home, some children would take it at face value.
Kids observe adults even when adults aren’t aware.
“By the way…”
“Yes? What is it?”
The young lady asked hesitantly.
“Is Ryoma-san alright?”
“What do you mean?”
“Since I talked about myself, I’m a little concerned.”
“Oh…”
Wondering if something might change in response.
“He’s fine, really.”
“After all, it’s true that I once lost control of my magic and hurt someone.”
Still, it wasn’t intentional. I myself crushed someone’s wrist back then. In recent years, I’ve taken down bandits entering the forest in groups of ten. That was by my own will.
As for the young lady, she seems to have some regrets or remorse about that incident, and I don’t think there’s any particular ethical issue. Also, I’ve seen her magic a few times, and it’s avoidable at that level. If it’s an ice arrow, I can even knock it down, and if she’s focused, even if it hits, it doesn’t have much effect.
In conclusion… no problem.
When I told her the reason along with this conclusion, she giggled and said,
“I see. Then Ryoma-san, please don’t forget our promise to meet again in three years.”
“I won’t forget.”
“Then I’ll be sure to check in three years. If you get too absorbed in your work, I’ll shoot the magic you’ve trained over the three years to remind you.”
Scary! What on earth did she just say? This girl.
“Haha, please spare me that… By the way, where did you learn to say something like that?”
It feels a bit different from the usual image of the young lady.
“My mother once did that to my father when he forgot a promise, to remind him.”
“I-I see…”
Glad Mr. Reinhardt is safe…
“Also, my magic doesn’t work on you, right?”
She said it, indeed she did. But isn’t that a separate matter?
As I was thinking that, she suddenly seemed to think of something and laughed mischievously.
“I just had a great idea, Sebas!”
“Yes, young lady, what is it?”
Suddenly, the young lady called Mr. Sebas and whispered something in his ear. Mr. Sebas nodded and took out a small box from the Item Box. The young lady took it and handed it to me.
“Ryoma-san, I want you to accept this.”
“What is this?”
“It’s a necklace I received from my mother on my tenth birthday.”
When she opened the box, there was a beautiful necklace with a gold chain and a gold setting holding a ruby about the size of a pinky nail. Simple, but surely high-end. And this ruby…
“Mana?”
For some reason, I could sense mana coming from the ruby.
“Oh, you noticed? Impressive. This ruby in the necklace is a magic gemstone.”
“A magic stone? Like those used for lights?”
“No, that’s a magic stone, just an ordinary magic tool. Um, Ryoma-san, do you know about magic stones?”
“Magic stones… If I remember correctly, there are many places in the world rich in mana, and stones containing mana are often mined there, right?”
“Exactly. The mana stored inside can usually be drawn upon when casting magic or used as assistance in magic control. Among magic stones, those that are not just stones but valuable gems are called magic gemstones. When they’re ore, they’re called magic ore.”
Magic stones assist magic, magic ore is used in magic tools and magical weapons, among other things.
“As for the important magic gemstones, they can be used for anything. They help with magic support, raise the performance of magic tools, and of course, serve as precious gems. They’re very convenient and, when used, often have stronger effects than normal magic stones, but they’re extremely rare and produced in small quantities.”
The young lady spoke rapidly and then took a breath. However,
