Chapter 59: Hidden Treasure 🗝️

Published: August 2, 2025

Today, five chapters posted simultaneously.

This is the fifth chapter.

The next day.

"Ugh, ugh... it hurts... my head..."

When I visited the room to check on the young ladies I couldn't meet last night, Mr. Reinhardt was down with a hangover.

"Oh, good morning, Ryoma-kun."

"Good morning, everyone."

"Ryoma-kun..."

"You look terrible. Shall I concoct some medicine for you?"

"...Since you’re offering, could you please?"

I warped around the city's shops, bought ingredients for a hangover cure and some fruits that wouldn’t cause any problems when eaten together, then returned to the inn.

"Here, please drink this. Also, you should stay hydrated."

I wish persimmons were available... or maybe clam miso soup. Since there are many transferees in this world, perhaps I can find those somewhere. I’ll look into it next time.

"...Thank you... I'll take it..."

"You should avoid drinking too much."

"I'm sorry... yesterday... ugh... ow..."

From the suffering Mr. Reinhardt, I learned the saying about drowning men grasping at straws. At yesterday’s banquet, government officials tried to curry favor by eagerly offering alcohol and lavish meals not only to Lord Reinbach and Mr. Reinhardt, but also to the madam and young ladies.

The madam was fine, but the young ladies were not yet accustomed to such occasions, and while dealing with the guests, Mr. Reinhardt ended up drinking more than intended.

Hearing this made me a bit uneasy. Is the young lady really okay with this? Won’t there be more such opportunities as she grows older? Thanks to Tekun-sama’s blessing, I don’t suffer from hangovers or drunkenness, so I’m somewhat reassured... though I still don’t know how much this body can handle. I do have experience from my previous life, after all.

Maybe I should test how much I can drink sometime.

With these thoughts, after making sure Mr. Reinhardt drank the medicine and juice, I left the inn.

I was a bit late today but went to the store. After a quick check, I left without any issues.

That’s good.

Switching gears, I headed to the abandoned mine shaft. I had some experiments to try and wanted to capture some slime along the way.

Might as well gather some medicinal herbs too.

"Hello, Mayleen-san."

"Oh, Ryoma-kun, are you here for Guild work today?"

"Yes, I’ve fully entrusted the store to my employees now."

"To have your own shop and hire people at your age is quite an achievement."

"I was just lucky."

"Is that so? Oh, not a request exactly, but I might have some good news for you."

Good news?

"Actually, there’s a group of five adventurers from another town. They captured an advanced level slime and brought it here."

What!?

"Please tell me more about that."

"When rare magical beasts are captured or information about their appearances is obtained, selling them to the Tamer Guild can bring a good sum of money. That party tried to sell their advanced slime at the Guild since high-level slimes are rare. But they were actually refused."

"For example, a slime like Ryoma-kun’s heal slime, which can use magic, is precious even among advanced types and useful, so the Guild buys them at high prices... but theirs must have been different. They were still rookies and made mistakes in information gathering beforehand. They thought advanced slimes would fetch a high price, but they were quite disappointed."

"So, depending on the price, can I buy that rare slime from them?"

"Exactly. So, do you want it?"

"I do, very much. Do you know where that party is?"

"They should be at a cheap inn called Badger Inn east of town. The party name is Shikum’s Pier—they’ll probably be there."

"Thanks, I’ll head there right away."

I immediately dashed out of the Guild and hurried to the Badger Inn.

Plan? Changed!

"…This is it?"

The Badger Inn was easy to find, but the exterior looked incredibly run-down. What, a ruin?

I went inside, and at the counter was a rough-looking middle-aged man.

"Welcome, customer?"

"I’m looking for the adventurer party called Shikum’s Pier staying here. Are they around?"
