Magical Beast Subjugation Day 5, Store Construction Day 1

"Ryoma, I need your help, nya..."

During my lunch break, while eating and resting, Miya-san and the others came by. Behind them were Jeff-san, Asagi-san, and Reipin-san—all covered in blood. I wondered what had happened...

"Can you help clean off this blood? It smells terrible."

"Goblins, huh? Looks like you had quite the showdown again."

Saying that, I ordered my cleaner slime to clean the seven of them thoroughly.

"Ah, finally clean... Ryoma-kun's cleaner slime is really handy."

"You saved me, thanks. With how we looked earlier, it would've been tough to go get lunch."

"Seriously, Jeff's work is always so sloppy."

"I already apologized..."

While waiting for the seven to get their lunch, I listened to their story as they ate. They had just wiped out a newly discovered Goblin nest. It was a remnant of the previous group of Goblins they fought. The nest was small enough for seven people plus a few others to handle easily, but the problem came after the subjugation. When they were disposing of the bodies, Jeff had impaled the corpses with his spear, hooked them, and flung them into a pile — a rather bold way to gather them all in one place.

"Well, it wrapped up quickly, but the pile of Goblin corpses was unstable. When we were about to head back, it collapsed on us."

They could dodge the rolling bodies, but couldn't avoid the blood splattering everywhere. Reipin-san even got hit directly by a corpse.

"That sounds rough..."

"Yeah, if it weren't for Ryoma, we'd have to eat lunch smelling like this and work through the afternoon."

"It's amazing how easily you can get Goblin filth off."

"Thank you."

At that moment, I remembered I hadn't told them about the laundry service.

"By the way, do you remember the laundry service I mentioned three days ago?"

"Yeah, why?"

"I've decided to start it soon."

"Oh, really? When?"

"The shop isn't ready yet, so it'll be a little while. The price is the same as I said before, one medium copper coin."

"Shop, huh? So you're setting up a store?"

"I talked it over with a merchant I know and decided to go for it. I've already registered with the commercial guild, and I bought land with the bounty from the bandits I defeated long ago. The store clerks will either be hired through the guild or the merchant will assist, so I can keep adventuring too."

"I see. It's surprising you want to set up a shop at your age, but it makes sense. Naturally, adventurers who know your slime's abilities will want to use it. Plus, it's a rare business, so word will spread. If it gets busy, doing it alone might be tough."

"It might be possible, but then I wouldn't have time for adventuring work."

"Yes. It's becoming bigger than expected, but since I can keep adventuring, it's good. I'll announce before opening, so please make use of it. We also have group discounts if you apply together."

"Oh, really? I might invite someone then..."

"Ryoma-kun's already sounding like a merchant, nya."

"Since you always speak politely, it doesn't feel odd at all."

We finished eating while chatting, then worked hard that afternoon.

"This is Lord Ryoma's land."

"It's really spacious."

After finishing work, I visited Mr. Serge to check the land I purchased.

In front of us was a two-story building in ruins and an empty lot a bit smaller than a youth baseball practice field. About 20m by 100m? In size, it's probably bigger than Serge's shop.

I thought it would be smaller on the map...

"There used to be a tavern here that doubled as an inn. There were guest rooms and storage."

"I see... Can I really do whatever I want here?"

"Yes, feel free to within the premises. Can you start work today?"

"Yes. Today I'll start by cutting weeds and tearing down part of the building."

I released scavenger slimes from the dimension home and instructed them to eat the grass away from the building. After that, the weeds should be cleared gradually.

Watching the thick grass slowly get swallowed up, I carefully removed ceiling panels from the upper floor under a soundproof barrier to avoid disturbing the neighbors. Being careful with noise and safety avoids trouble.
