Today, two episodes are released simultaneously.
This story is episode 1.
“Thank you for the meal.”
During lunch break, I finished eating the rations at the corner of the square where adventurers gather. But other adventurers I saw were still eating or had just started their meals.
When eating alone, I unconsciously tend to eat quickly. It’s a habit from my previous life... What should I do now? Mr. Jeff and Wellanna and the others had each gone off to eat with other adventurers while exchanging information...
Feeling a bit bored, I thought for a moment and decided to take care of the slime.
“Excuse me.”
I called out to a staff member at the temporary reception, which handles tasks other than subjugation, like gathering information.
“Oh, Ryoma-kun.”
“Hello, Mayleen-san. Is now a good time?”
“Sure, what is it?”
“I’d like to step away briefly until lunch break ends to feed the slime. Also, can I receive the hunted magical beasts now?”
“If that’s the case, they’ve been gathered over there, so feel free to take some. The payment has already been prepaid yesterday, so even if the Guild staff ask, just show your Guild Card and there won’t be any issues.
I’ve also noted your solo outing. Be careful, alright? Make sure you’re back before lunch break ends.”
“You’ll be taking roll call by groups, right?”
“Yes. Even if you’re late, don’t go straight to work; you have to check in once at the temporary reception. This is to prevent people from sneaking off early and stealing their day’s wage. Failing to do so will be considered abandonment of duty and you won’t be paid. Absolutely.”
“Understood. Thank you very much.”
After Mayleen-san emphasized this, I left the reception and carried four baskets of magical beast corpses I received on my back, then headed out of the square.
“Is this area good enough...? ‘Dimension Home.’”
After walking for a while and climbing a steep slope, I found a spot with no sign of people and a great view. Here, I would immediately notice if humans or magical beasts approached.
After confirming the slimes were crawling out of the white hole one after another onto the wide slope, I immediately fed the magical beast corpses to the slime.
First, I had the cleaner slime eat the dirt, then divided the remaining meat into four piles. Next to them, I prepared four large containers filled with water. Once ready, I gave permission for the poison, sticky, acid, and scavenger slimes to become big or huge slimes and crush the piles of food with their bodies as they swallowed it.
Watching their hearty eating style from the side, I remembered I also had to prepare food for the metal slime. While I thought this, the metal slime began digging into the ground with its hard body, trying to eat the soil.
Is it absorbing the iron content from the soil...? Although it’s barely digging.
It looked less like digging and more like sulking because it wasn’t getting fed, the only one left out.
I hastened my preparations and placed a dish filled with iron powder on the ground. The metal slime stopped digging and slowly approached with extremely slow movements. Though contract effects made its haste apparent, the movement was very sluggish. Is its metal body so heavy?
Sitting next to the metal slime as it absorbed the iron powder, I watched their eating. Time passed gently. By the way, the heal slime doesn’t eat but survives through photosynthesis, so it had spent the entire time sunbathing behind me during the others’ meal.
After the slimes finished eating, something caught my attention. I left one each of the poison, sticky, and acid slimes and returned the others to the dimension home.
“Please.”
I laid out plates in front of the three slimes and had them spit their liquids into the dishes, filling each with poison, sticky liquid, and acid respectively.
The metal slime’s body is hard and it has the “Harden” skill. It’s clear why it’s strong against physical attacks, but does poison affect it? I didn’t know. So, I decided to conduct an experiment.
