This is the first chapter.

ā€œThat was really fastā€¦ā€

After occasionally taking breaks, we flew for about half a day, avoiding the city. The dragon carrying us landed north of Gimul Town, a little distance away from the city itself. Seeing the city gate from afar made us truly realize we had returned, but it also reminded me of how incredible a dragon’s mobility is.

It took me about a month to reach Teressa on foot. Even considering that I was taking requests to raise my rank on the journey, it’s not a distance I could have covered alone this quickly.

I’ve flown in airplanes many times, but I’m still amazed that there are ā€œliving creaturesā€ that can fly at comparable sizes and speeds. It makes sense that magical beasts are used for transportation and travel, and in terms of comfort and safety, dragons might even be superior.

Besides… this overwhelmingly magnificent dragon was currently rubbing its head against Lord Reinbach’s chest, as if reluctant to part ways. We shouldn’t forget the danger, but seeing it like this, it’s actually quite cute.

ā€œYou’ve been a great help. Rest well.ā€

After a pause following Lord Reinbach’s words, the dragon’s figure vanished from the spot like a phantom. Come to think of it, was that some kind of summoning magic? At least, I’ve never heard of being able to summon a familiar using beast taming magic, and I’ve never seen it done.

Previously, Madam also summoned a large wolf-type familiar… but apparently summoning magic doesn’t allow for communication like beast taming magic does. Judging by their behavior during the flight and just now, it doesn’t seem like there was any lack of communication, so maybe there’s some loophole magic like slime magic. If so, how exactly is it done…?

ā€œWell then, let’s head to the city.ā€

ā€œThe carriage is ready.ā€

That’s right. The sun was still high in the sky, and even though we could have flown further, we deliberately landed here to check for curses and, if cursed, perform countercurses as soon as possible. The longer we delay, the later everything gets.

We all climbed into the carriage Mr. Sebas had prepared, and it smoothly set off. It should take about ten minutes to reach the city gate of Gimul.

ā€œLord Reinbach, thank you for escorting us. Thanks to you, we’ve returned so quickly.ā€

ā€œYou’ve been taking care of Ryoma-kun in many ways, so there’s no need to hesitate. More importantly, is it really okay to go to the church in Gimul?ā€

ā€œYes, I believe that’s the most reliable and certain place.ā€

There are many things to do after returning to Gimul, but the most urgent is to verify the curse, and if cursed, to perform a countercurse. The options for who to request this from are cursed sorcerers, exorcists, or the church clergy. Normally, that would be the three choices, but I have a fourth option.

ā€œThat’s true… nobody would normally think of ā€˜receiving a Divine Decree from the gods.ā€™ā€

ā€œOnly because you’re a child of god… I’ve said it many times, but absolutely don’t spread this around. Especially if the church’s higher-ups find out, it will definitely cause trouble.ā€

ā€œI don’t want any trouble, so I’ll be careful.ā€

Eventually, the carriage arrived at the city gate, and the highest-ranking security guard there came out to meet us. Since we could see the city from here, it seemed natural that the dragon was visible from the North Gate as well.

Then again, with the family crest on the carriage and Mr. Sebas, Lord Reinbach, and even me having easy access, the gate confirmation was over in just a few words. I wasn’t sure if his coming out was really necessary. I felt a little guilty, but since it’s his job, it can’t be helped…

Since we were going to the church, I decided to tidy up as much as possible now. I cleaned my body with the cleaner slime and stored my armor and weapons inside the dimension home. I don’t think there’s a rule against being armed, but it’s more about how I feel.
