Chapter 244: Snow Defense and New Areas of Slime Research ❄️

Published: August 15, 2025

As I continued a peaceful conversation with the gods, the topic shifted from the fields to the weather, and I asked about something that caught my attention.

Apparently, this year’s cold will be harsher than usual, with more snowy days.

“Is it abnormal weather?”

“No, if anything, you could say this is actually normal now. Do you remember why Ryoma-kun came to this world?”

“To bring Earth’s mana into this world, right?”

“Exactly. Because Ryoma-kun brought a huge amount of mana to compensate for the deficiency here, the whole world is becoming more active. It’s like a body recovering from malnutrition after finally getting enough food.”

“Many factors combine to shape the environment and climate on the surface, constantly changing to maintain balance. It’s just that the temperature swings might be a bit wider.”

Thanks to Kufo’s explanation and Lady Felnoberia’s supplement, it became clearer.

It seems this year’s severe winter and increased snowfall are actually a positive reaction for the world.

However, “some” climate fluctuations will occur.

And this “some” is an assessment from the gods’ perspective (……).

With that in mind, we humans should prepare ourselves properly.

“Yeah, that’s true for us.”

“If the winter preparations aren’t neglected, there should be no immediate problem, but it’s better to be careful anyway.”

I overheard the conversation between Kiriluel and Lurutia, sitting next to each other, and thought, “As expected.”

“I meant to say this before but completely forgot — the information and common sense we got before coming to this world had some subtle gaps and inconsistencies with reality here.”

At that, the three gods who guided me looked apologetic.

“I’m not blaming anyone. Things worked out in the end, and it even gave me a chance to get involved with the Duke’s household.”

Besides, even among humans, there are culture gaps between countries, and a generation gap can exist between people just ten years apart in the same country. So between humans and gods, it’s only natural to have differences in perspective and understanding.

“I appreciate your understanding.”

“When you’ve existed for a long time, your sense of time becomes vague.”

“To be honest, decades or even hundreds of years feel like negligible errors.”

I’ll probably never understand that feeling in my lifetime... But anyway, there’s no doubt there will be more snow than usual this year. So, preparations are necessary, and this might also be a good opportunity to create new jobs.

As I was thinking about this, Seeleelipta grinned and spoke.

“You’re planning to start something new again, aren’t you?”

“For now, it’s snow removal measures around town. Even if each snowfall is small, if it doesn’t melt and keeps accumulating, it will hinder movement of people and goods.

I can handle the neighborhood with magic and slime, but managing the whole town is impossible. Plus, if heavy snow continues every year, it’s better to start building a system now.”

“Specifically?”

“For starters, gather people and use human wave tactics. It seems more workers are still coming in. Also, to improve efficiency, I want to prototype some snow shovels and ice-breaking tools from Earth... There are some things from slime research I might be able to use too...”

“Oh? That sounds a bit hesitant. You usually talk more enthusiastically when it’s about slime.”

Wilieris said that to me.

I’ve noticed the same among my human acquaintances; maybe among the gods too, that’s a shared perception about me?

“It’s usable for snow removal, but some research results require careful handling.”

“Careful handling? What, did you make a bomb or something?”

Kufo joked, but it wasn’t far off.

“Huh? You actually made one?”

“No, no, not a bomb (・). It’s just that in an experiment, I accidentally created something like ‘gunpowder.’”

“Why didn’t you tell me that?”

“Well, I hadn’t yet.”
