Chapter 240: Changing Days 🕰️

Published: August 15, 2025

The Next Day

Under a gloomy overcast sky and a biting cold wind blowing fiercely since morning, I went to work at the security company to check the day’s tasks and messages.

The first message was about a package Mr. Serge had received.

“This is the delivery. I heard the contents are the magic tool Lord Ryoma ordered earlier,” said the maid Ms. Lilian as she handed it over.

I had ordered various magic tools recently, so I wasn’t sure which one it was.

Opening the box, I found it contained a “pressure cooker,” something I was very familiar with back in Japan.

“Oh, it’s finished.”

This was something I had commissioned from the magic tool craftsman Mr. Dinorm a long time ago.

Since it involved many firsts—sealing, strength, safety valves—it had taken quite some time.

Finally, it was in my hands!

“And at the perfect timing too.”

It had been getting seriously cold lately, and there were many times I wished I had a pressure cooker for cooking various things.

I was truly grateful to Mr. Dinorm for completing it right when I needed it.

“Oh? Lord Ryoma, there’s a letter at the bottom of the box.”

“Thank you…?”

“Is there something you need to know?”

“Since this is the first one he made, he wants feedback on how it feels to use it and any points for improvement. Also, he’d like more of the rubber material I provided. There are various matters he wants to discuss, so he wrote that whenever you have time, please come by to see him.

The tone is unusually polite…”

Most of my correspondence with Mr. Dinorm concerns cooking tools and magic tools.

Although normally he’s not one for many letters, he’s quite diligent in writing. Since he can’t write anything confidential about the product itself, this must be why his tone is so careful.

“There’s no urgent need, so I’ll check my schedule and try to visit as soon as possible.”

“Understood. We’ll adjust our schedule to make time here as well.”

“Thank you.”

Next came two fairly thick stacks of documents.

“Reports from the ‘Construction Department’ and the city office.”

“I see…”

The Construction Department consists of people currently entrusted with the slum district’s urban planning, now organized by division of labor.

At the core are 30 experienced workers gathered by Mr. Zeff on the day I first dismantled the ‘Children’s House.’

These 30 helped rebuild the Children’s House while I personally instructed them in my magic-based PC construction method, focusing on assembly work to get them used to the job.

Now they’re split into teams of five, leading newly hired laborers as site supervisors and managers, working on reorganizing the slum district.

The newly hired rookies, understandably, prefer taking orders from adults rather than a kid like me.

“...The construction work is progressing smoothly. The current project is expected to finish on schedule... so we’ll prepare the next site this afternoon. The city office is advancing with relocating the homeless and allocating housing, and there are requests, so should we prioritize those houses? There’s space too.”

I summarized the proposed schedule on separate sheets, having the Construction Department and city office reps confirm it. Once approved, I’ll quickly handle demolition, foundation work, and material prep with magic.

By dividing the work this way, the slum district’s redevelopment and rebuilding are progressing at a rapid pace.

This season will only get colder, with lots of rain and snow typical for this area’s climate. Sleeping outdoors risks freezing to death, so I want the workers to push forward steadily without overexertion.

“All set. Please take care of this letter.

Also, there seems to be no urgent matters, so as planned, I’ll head to the Adventurers’ Guild this morning for a meeting.”

“Have a good day.”

With that, I dashed through the cold city again, heading to the Adventurers’ Guild.

…Lately, my errands to various places have decreased.

Today, too, I was heading to the guild, but after the meeting, I’d be free.
