Today, three chapters are updated simultaneously.
This story is the first chapter.
On the morning of the final day of the long holiday.
I finished getting ready and waited at the entrance of the abandoned mine.
“There they come!”
On the road leading to Gimul, I spotted a carriage coming this way at a gallop.
The driver was Ms. Lilian, the maid, and sitting beside her was Mr. Eudam—so there was no doubt about it.
I waved to let them know I was there and guided them to a suitable place to stop.
From the carriage, the three daughters who had gone out to work—Ms. Fina, Ms. Maria, and Ms. Jane—came out.
“Good morning. And thank you all for your hard work.”
I greeted them, and they responded in kind. The three girls from the farming village added,
“But we’re not tired at all!”
“This carriage was so comfortable~”
“In the village, we either walk or ride in bumpier carriages.”
I see.
“So this carriage really is a good one,” I said.
This carriage is one of the three that had been parked in the vacant lot in front of our shop recently, brought by people from the Duke's household. So I had assumed it was a good one.
“It’s not just good; it’s quite a high-quality carriage.”
“Mr. Eudam, I guessed as much.”
“It’s an old one that the Duke’s household intended to discard, so please don’t worry about that. If you need it, don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Thank you.”
You see... these two carriages, including the one just used, were lent to me. Mr. Reinhardt sent word that “things are going to get busy, so use these as your transportation freely.” So right now, I’m able to use them for my personal errands.
Of course, I’m not only grateful for the carriage or the Duke’s household.
The other night, the neighboring couple took back the two children they had been watching, but the kids were with all the employees except for Mr. Calm.
Moreover, while we were away, the guild master and the Duke’s household were taken care of by them as well, so they must have been worried. When they asked, I explained the situation, and they offered, “Is there anything we can help with?”
Gratefully, I accepted their cooperation. So today, the three from the farming village are going to teach me the basics of agriculture.
“Thank you all for taking time off. I appreciate your help today.”
“Ahaha! Why are you so formal, shop manager?”
“We’re always indebted to you, so this much is nothing.”
“Actually, we’re happy we can help the shop manager. But why suddenly agriculture?”
“Oh, I didn’t explain that part. The truth is—”
I didn’t mention the part about the god of agriculture, but I told them that I was told my way of using wood magic was brute force, and if I learned farming, I could get better results.
“Wow, that happened?”
“We don’t know much about magic, but will we be okay?”
“Don’t worry so much, Fina. Knowing the target of magic is important for using magic.”
“Exactly what Mr. Eudam just said,” Ms. Lilian added.
I was told that first, but—huh?
“By any chance, can you also use magic, Mr. Eudam?”
“Not that I’m great at it, but I can use wood magic. Also, for watering, I can do some water magic.”
“That helps a lot!”
If he knows about magic, he’ll be even more reliable. Plus, I don’t know much about Mr. Eudam yet, so it would be nice to get along better... Right,
“Since we’re standing here chatting, why don’t you come this way? I’ve prepared a place for you to teach me various things.”
So, I led the five of them and moved.
We headed to the west side of the abandoned mine, a fairly wide flat area. Until recently, it was overgrown with weeds, but I quickly tidied it up... Did I do something wrong?
“...”
The five people I guided looked at it with wide eyes, especially the three from the farming village.
“Is something wrong?”
“Well, shop manager...”
“Isn’t that a greenhouse over there?”
Indeed. There’s some ground, but next to it is a building I made because it’s winter and cold, so I thought it would be better to have one.
