Chapter 228: Three-Day Weekend: Day One 🌟

Published: August 15, 2025

Today, two chapters are released simultaneously.

This is the first chapter.

The next morning.

Last night, Mr. Fuse and the others came to Gimul and said they would be helping me for a while. That gave me motivation and enthusiasm for work today, but—

“It's a day off, huh…”

Even after saying it out loud to confirm, the result was the same. It was a day off.

The reason was that since I returned from Fatma Territory to Gimul, I hadn’t taken a single day off.

On the day I returned, I immediately started meetings with Mr. Serge and the guild master, and the guild master informed Mr. Fuse and the others about this.

So, starting today and for the next three days, my work will be handled by capable maids and the men, and I was even told I’m forbidden from going out to work. I did refuse when they said I should let them take care of my life morning, noon, and night… But anyway, that’s how it is, and I’m going to be away from work for these three days.

I was able to schedule something for the last day of the three-day break, but today and tomorrow are completely free. So…

“It’s been a while since I’ve spent a whole day researching slime!”

I haven’t had much uninterrupted time lately… I want to properly organize the slime evolutions fueled by the food I got in Fatma Territory, and I also want to try some things triggered by the acidic mucus I made there. I’ll take this opportunity to do whatever I can!

Time passed, and now it’s night. From morning until just now, I spent plenty of time summarizing notes on the experiments and observations.

About the slime evolutions from the food obtained in Fatma Territory, first I’ll make a table showing which slime ate what and what evolution was confirmed.

――――

Pre-evolution Type Food (Predicted) Post-evolution Type

- Sticky slime → Crab slime → Spider slime

→ Crust slime → Crust slime

→ Net slime → Fiber slime

- Acid slime → Shell slime → Shell slime

→ Shell & Egg slime → Pearl slime

- Poison slime → Coal & Sand slime → Filter slime

→ Poison needle slime → Sting slime

- Metal slime → Net slime → Wire slime

- Bloody slime → Parasite slime → Evolution pending

- Stone slime → Sand slime → Sand slime

→ Pottery slime → Evolution pending

- Weed slime → Aquatic weed slime → Aquatic weed slime

→ Algae slime → Algae slime

――――

That’s all.

Next, I’ll summarize observation records and thoughts on the newly evolved slimes.

First, the three kinds evolved from Sticky slime…

“Spider slime”

Appearance: Slightly smaller than sticky slime.

Skills: No skills lost through evolution; newly acquired two skills: “nesting” and “trap technique.”

Notes: It builds webs with silk on tunnel walls and moves through air by traversing these webs, showing many spider-like behaviors. Also, the nature of the silk it spits has slightly changed.

I tried asking both sticky slime and spider slime to produce the strongest silk possible, then had them bind my arm and tried to tear it off. The spider slime’s silk was more elastic and harder to tear, feeling more durable (this result is subjective based on my impression).

On Earth, spider silk has been attracting attention as an excellent fiber with superb properties and structure, and research is ongoing. Sticky slime’s silk is already strong, but spider slime’s silk might have structural changes. I plan to consult an expert about this material later.

I said it was slightly smaller, but that might be individual variation. When their numbers grow, I’ll calculate the average size.

“Crust slime”

Appearance: No notable changes.

Skills: No skills lost by evolution; newly acquired “shell generation.”

Notes: Shell generation is a skill where the slime secretes bodily fluid and solidifies it into a shell covering. It seems they can act normally with a hardened body surface, so we can say their defense has purely improved.

When I analyzed this shell, it proved almost identical to the “hardened liquid plates” I had made and used. Since hardened liquid plates are originally made from sticky slime’s secretion, this is reasonable. I tried instructing the slime to spread the bodily fluid flat to make a hardened liquid plate, and it succeeded.
