“This way.”
After finishing breakfast, I was guided by Ms. Luluneze to the magic practice area inside the mansion.
The first thing that caught my eye was the vivid and flashy wall painted entirely in purple.
This purple wall enclosed an area roughly the size of a small park.
There was no ceiling, and the ground beneath our feet was just bare earth, unpaved...
From one corner, a woman approached gracefully, accompanied by two maids.
“Welcome, Ryoma-kun.”
“Thank you for waiting, madam.”
Today’s work was setting up for a wedding ceremony in the afternoon. Since there was nothing special planned for the morning, I decided to use the time to improve the sugar scrub... and the madam ended up joining as well.
Apparently, she said she needed some refreshment, and today was originally free for her.
I don’t deny that refreshment is necessary.
But isn’t this a bit too early?
“We haven’t even finished preparing for the experiment yet, right? What we’re going to do now is farm work.”
“I want to see what kind of preparations are being made. Besides, how is our family’s pride, the magic practice ground?”
“It’s spacious and nice. It seems like I can use magic here without hesitation.”
However...
“Are you bothered by the walls?”
Ms. Luluneze pinpointed exactly what had been on my mind.
“You can tell?”
“Because your gaze keeps drifting over there.”
“Hahaha... May I ask why it’s such a flashy color?”
She smiled warmly and answered.
“It’s painted with a special coating that’s resistant to fire and ice magic and temperature changes. Before the young lady started attending the academy, she used to practice magic here, so it was made safer for her to train as much as possible.”
“Once, Eria overloaded her mana into fire magic and melted the brick wall. Since then, we’ve been coating it just in case.”
Now that I think about it, Eria’s specialty elements were fire and ice... so that makes sense.
Also, does that mean if you pour enough mana, you can generate such heat? I should remember that.
“That makes sense.”
“This is a private space for our family, so Ryoma-kun, you can use it whenever you like. You can even use spatial magic here. And ever since Eria went to school, it’s rarely been used... which is a shame.”
The madam seemed somewhat lonely.
“Well then, I’ll gratefully use it without hesitation.”
After saying this, I began work.
“Dimension Home.”
From a white portal appearing in midair, I summoned sticky slimes and scavenger slimes.
One hundred of each.
“There are still so many as usual.”
“This is the first time I’ve seen this many at once...”
I thought Ms. Luluneze had seen them during feeding, but maybe I was mistaken...?
Ah, maybe they were disguised as big, huge, or king slimes instead of roses?
The maids accompanying the madam were also equally surprised. Let’s get started quickly.
“First... Break Rock.”
I used magic to turn the well-leveled ground into sandy soil, somewhat deeply.
About 50 meters square should be enough.
“All right, scavengers!”
I lined the scavenger slimes along the edge of the sandy area, spaced 50 centimeters apart...
“As usual, I’m counting on you.”
Reacting to my words, the scavengers began moving all at once.
They ingested the sand in front of them, expelled the sand they had taken in behind, and advanced again.
“Are they tilling the soil?”
“Yes. At first, I had scavengers spit out fertilizer and I manually mixed it in. But since this repetitive task is very useful, I repeated it several times a day. It became troublesome, so now after softening the soil with earth magic, I have the scavengers mix in the fertilizer inside their bodies.”
The scavengers advanced in a neat horizontal line, and behind them, well-mixed soil containing moisture and fertilizer piled up, forming ridges.
“After entrusting this task, the scavengers eventually learned the skill ‘tillage.’”
“I haven’t heard of that skill.”
“It seems to refer specifically to the task of tilling the field within farm work. Since I only made them mix soil and fertilizer without letting them sow seeds or water, they only focused on that task.”
