Chapter 140: Luxury of the Single Point ✨

Published: August 2, 2025

Merry Christmas!

Today, two chapters are posted simultaneously.

This story is the first chapter.

I spent quite some time on the clothing order, but the sun is still high... Next up is the Tigger Armory.

"Hello!"

"Ryoma, the stuff you asked for is ready."

The shop owner, Mr. Darson, said that and went into the back of the shop.

After waiting for a while, he returned carrying a slightly large wooden box.

"This is the finished product."

Inside were two sets of what looked like ordinary clothes: a light green shirt, pants, and a cloak.

"As ordered, these are made from the fabric woven with that extremely strong thread you brought in. I had a trusted armor craftsman make them, but I personally checked the quality. Even though it’s a prototype, I’m confident in handing it over—it’s a top-notch piece."

He took out a piece of cloth and a knife from the box.

"Watch this."

He tried to cut the fabric, but no matter how many times he slashed or stabbed, it only left scratches. The fabric didn’t tear or rip.

"This is made by layering two pieces of fabric woven from the thread you brought me. Every garment has this same material inside, so you can expect enough protection against blades. They look and feel like regular clothes, but in essence, they’re close to chainmail. If you think of it as innerwear beneath armor, the defensive power is exceptional."

"How about the cost and production efficiency for one set?"

"Well... because the fabric is so strong, processing it—especially cutting—takes more time. But since the materials were brought in, and compared to armor made from similar materials, the cost comes out cheaper. Not bad at all."

"What similar material?"

"The thread from a magical beast called a Metal Spider. It’s weak to heat, so if you lightly singe it, it softens and is easy to cut. Processing wise, it’s much easier. But that ease of processing is also a weak point."

"To compensate, usually the thread is processed with a material that works well with enchantment magic, woven together, and then fire- or heat-resistant magic is applied to turn it into magical armor. The Metal Spider’s thread itself is quite expensive, and adding enchantment costs more money. It’s a fairly high-end product."

It takes time, but the cost performance seems good.

Picking up one set, the fabric on the inside and outside was different. The inside felt smooth and comfortable to the touch...

"Is the inside silk?"

"Yeah, that thread has zero water absorption or moisture retention. The finished fabric too. So considering that, they used silk on the inside."

"I see, thank you. With this, even going through thick bushes won’t be an issue."

"More than bushes—fangs of ordinary wolves or blades won’t be a problem either. Blunt force still works, though."

"What’s the price?"

"Five gold coins per set."

Even though it's custom-made, it’s really cheap.

"Is that okay?"

"You brought the materials, and while weaving and cutting took effort, there was no special processing. The armor craftsman was happy to work with such a rare material. Even including payment for the time spent, five gold coins is enough."

"I see. Thank you."

If it’s this cheap, maybe I should distribute them to everyone at our shop. At least to the security staff... What about the Duke's household? They have guards, but if a year-end comes when antidotes need to be stocked... I’ll consult.

"I think nobles usually prepare those kinds of countermeasures themselves, but giving these as gifts wouldn’t be rude. I don't mind making them as long as you provide the materials and the payment. If you’re giving as a gift, bring one more sample in a normal adult size."

"You can measure the size there and have the correctly sized garments delivered later. You can bring the shop employees here for fittings too. Either way, if you order a number of them, I’ll give you a bit of a discount."

With that, I ordered a new sample garment.

"I’ll prepare the thread materials by tomorrow."

"Got it. I’ll contact the craftsman on my end too."
