This story is episode 4.

“Everyone, grab your belongings and assemble!”

On Roche’s command, everyone except the instructor taking care of the carriage gathered.

“Some of you might already know this, but I’ll start with the basics.

First, on roads with heavy foot traffic, there are often campsites made to make it easier for travelers to camp overnight. This place is one of them—a piece of land just cleared out along the mountain path, as you can see. But look behind me. There’s a signboard, right?”

Indeed. The signboard shows a picture of a river and an arrow pointing toward the water source.

“Most campsites have areas suitable for pitching tents and access to water. Such places are created either by the lord of the territory for the benefit of travelers or by experienced adventurers like us and you for the newcomers.

Therefore, campsites are free for anyone to use. Naturally, we also have the right to use them, but we must not forget that there are rules to follow when doing so. …Well, most of these are within common sense. They’re not that many or difficult, so don’t be too apprehensive.

Today, after confirming those rules, you’ll each start preparing your own campsite. If you don’t understand something or want to know more, come ask us instructors actively. At night, we’ll take turns keeping watch together, but other than that, it’s free time. If you have spare time, you can rest to recover energy or gather food for the days ahead, as long as it doesn’t disturb others.”

After a rough explanation of the schedule, it turned into usage precautions…

Don’t dirty the campsite. Return it as close as possible to its original state before leaving. They talked about really basic things like that, as well as customs when other users are present.

Then, as planned, it was time to start the objective of this training: preparing the campsite. First, to secure my own sleeping area, the instructors also started preparing individually.

I headed to a corner of the campsite to prepare. Then, I used earth magic…

“‘Earth Wall.’”

I created four earthen walls from the ground, forming a moderately sized enclosure. Two of the walls were made slightly longer… Good. It’s enough space to separate inside into a sleeping area and a toilet. Then, I made two thin walls separately and cut them to use as a roof. Finally, I stuffed soil into the gaps between the walls and the roof, reinforced it with rock magic to seal it up, and today’s lodging was almost complete.

For the final touch,

“‘Item Box.’”

Hmm, where did it go…

“Um…”

Turning around, I saw five boys and girls making strange faces. They had all been in a different carriage from me. It seemed they had been watching for a while but finally spoke up. …Honestly, I had been nervously waiting for someone to talk to me.

“You were using magic, right? Preparing the campsite?”

“That’s right. It still looks like a stone box, but from here, I open holes and attach things like this.”

I answered the spirited boy and took out the doors and screens I had prepared in advance from the Item Box, showing them how I installed them.

“Do you use that much mana for camping? Adventurers are supposed to keep some in reserve for unexpected situations. I learned that mages should try not to waste mana.”

This question came from a strong-willed girl. Judging by her light armor and staff, she’s probably a mage.

“That’s true. When operating outside the city, it’s difficult to get enough rest like in a safe city during camping. So, I agree with the idea of refraining from wasteful magic use to prepare for emergencies.

However, I think using magic to create a more comfortable rest environment isn’t ‘wasteful.’”

The quality of rest differs between poor and comfortable environments. To conserve stamina and maintain concentration, if you can create a better environment, it’s not waste.

But since I have a large mana capacity, I can use magic without hesitation, so it might be difficult to imitate exactly. But how about for some parts?
