This story is the 4th chapter.

A month has passed since living the same routine every day.

In addition to the daily basic training each morning, my studies on Potions are going well, thanks to my prior knowledge. Recently, to combine training with gathering medicinal herbs and securing food, I’ve been actively accepting requests to exterminate harmful beasts. The Metal and Iron slimes have gradually learned to transform into weapons, and I’m now able to use them reasonably well as weapons.

One morning, when I stopped by the shop, I received an urgent message from Renaf's Branch.

The message was that the slimes have multiplied excessively, and Mr. Kokin and the other two couldn’t handle any more contracts.

In this situation, the only option is for me to go pick them up.

After checking my schedule was clear, I set off immediately with Gimul.

Now, at dusk... I have arrived at Renaf's Branch.

The journey, which previously took until around noon the next day when I came to this town, was completed before sunset on the same day this time. Even in a fantasy world, the distance between towns doesn’t change on its own. Naturally, this means my travel speed has increased.

From home to Gimul, then from Gimul outside the town — the spatial magic I’ve been using for commuting and tasks must have improved without my noticing. My running speed doesn’t feel much different, so I assume the distance I can cover in one teleport has increased.

I’ll verify that another time, but it’s gratifying to feel the results of my daily training.

Enjoying a slight sense of achievement, I step through the shop door.

The shop is still open and there are a fair number of customers inside.

As I line up, Tony calls out from the counter just finishing up with a customer.

“Manager!”

“Thanks for your hard work.”

“Glad you came.”

“Of course. Mr. Tony, what about the slimes you mentioned?”

“They’re here. Ms. Lobelia and Branch Manager Karla from the Karla Branch.”

“It’s okay. Leave this to us.”

“You two, please take care of the slimes.”

Tony, having entrusted customer service to the two of them, leads me to the employees' living quarters. Apparently, one room there is temporarily used as a slime storage room. The management seems strict, with an adventurer hired as a guard standing at the door.

“Long time no see. Thanks for always handling security.”

“Manager. Thanks for hiring me.”

“How’s it going?”

“Nothing special. The floor is just covered in slimes. No intruders, no escapes. For anything else, Kokin is inside, so you might want to ask him.”

So, inside.

“Mr. Kokin, long time no see.”

“Oh! Manager, you arrived earlier than I expected.”

“I left as soon as I heard the message. Are all the slimes waiting for contracts here?”

The room contains a bunk bed, a desk, and chairs. Kokin was doing paperwork at the desk, but the floor beneath him is already filled with cleaner slimes.

“That’s right. There are 75 in total.”

Then let's start immediately.

“‘Magical Beast Contracts’... this is the last one, right?”

“I’ve confirmed exactly 75.”

“How’s your mana? If you’re struggling, I have Potions...”

“I’m fine. I have a lot of mana.”

The number isn’t as large as the scavenger contract rush.

I wonder what caused the sudden increase?

“If so, it’s summarized in this document.”

Kokin hands me the papers on the desk.

...I see.

Cause 1: A sudden increase in customers.

This town has the “Dragoon Guild,” a base for those who use flying magical beasts to operate transportation. Not only guild members but also clients who send parcels and passengers who use the service frequently come and go. Apparently, outsiders who heard stories from our regular customers have been showing up more often lately.

Naturally, when more jobs come in, the slimes’ food intake increases.

Cause 2: Adjustment of deodorant liquid production.

Due to the large nutritional intake, the amount of deodorant liquid produced by the cleaner slimes far exceeded demand, leading to many unsold products. Although no loss occurred for the shop, we decided to slightly reduce production.
