Chapter 949: Are You Asking Me to Work for Free?

Aks sat quietly in the battle chariot, gazing at the vast fertile lands outside the base. The air was even better than that of the Ark Continent, but amidst his joy, Aks also felt some irritation.

They had not encountered much resistance at the canyon defense line, but ever since they sent people out to scout the surroundings, those reconnaissance teams had come under attack from undead beings.

This situation worried Aks, but more than that, it infuriated him. The number of undead beings was not large, but their speed was impressive, and they were commanded exceptionally well. As soon as they engaged in battle, they would retreat immediately, never entangling themselves. To be honest, this kind of attack posed little threat to Aks and his team, but it significantly hindered their reconnaissance plans.

After several unsuccessful scouting attempts, Aks became disheartened and abandoned the external reconnaissance plan, focusing instead on building the base.

Strangely, as they built the base, the undead beings no longer came to attack them. This puzzled Aks, and he shared this situation with his father.

From his father, Aks learned that powerful undead beings had appeared in the black mist to the north of the Ark Continent. The family had decided to shift their development focus towards their location, and soon, his father would bring important members of the family to him.

Upon hearing this news, Aks felt both worried and happy. He was concerned about the situation in the black mist, but delighted that if the family shifted its developmental focus here, it would mean he had achieved a significant accomplishment, which could only be a good thing for him.

While Aks was contemplating these matters, there was a sudden knock on the chariot door. Turning his head, he saw it was George. Aks opened the door and asked, "What’s up, George? What brings you here?"

Aks’ chariot was parked outside the base; he had only come out to relax. Seeing George here surprised him, as he had instructed that unless there was something important, he should not be disturbed. He planned to return shortly.

George bowed to Aks and said, "Young Master, the elder council of the family has arrived. They are here on the family head's orders to conduct an inspection. Once they finish their inspection, the family head might relocate here."

Hearing this from George, Aks immediately stood up. He nodded and said, "Alright, let’s head back." After saying that, he jumped down from the chariot and walked towards the base.

In fact, this inspection was merely a formality. The elders of the O'Neill family were very clear about the current situation the family faced. With the northern front unstable and the family lacking good strategies, the relocation to the south was inevitable.

Additionally, the environment of Taurus Continent was indeed quite good. Although it had experienced some warfare, the fighting had ended months ago. Despite large areas of land being unattended, the grass grew tall and lush, making the natural scenery even more appealing.

The elder council didn’t linger long. They needed to relay the situation back to the clan leader. After they left, Aks immediately ordered the expansion of the base.

While Aks was busy expanding the base, there was movement in the black mist of the Underworld again. The expansion speed of the black mist had increased significantly, and at night, the undead beings would actively venture outside the black mist, expanding their range of activity.

In light of this, the O'Neill family had no choice but to retreat further. Relocation was now urgent, and the clan leader had already decided to move immediately.

Fortunately, the Ark Continent was not their homeland, so preparations were quick. However, those relay stations they had originally established would remain. The clan leader of the O'Neill family intended to use them to monitor the movements of the Underworld's black mist.

As the O'Neill family prepared to relocate, Zhao Hai's war with the Gemini and Aquarius Continents was nearing its end. In fact, the fighting on Aquarius had already ceased. The Aquarius people, skilled in using potions, found most of them ineffective against undead beings, which led to their quicker defeat. Now, only the people from Gemini were still holding out.
