Zhao Hai sat calmly in the hall. He had just asked the divine race undead about the extermination of the goblin clan. Initially, Zhao Hai didn't think much of it; he believed the goblin clan was wiped out simply because the divine race discovered their magical technology, which threatened their rule.
However, after probing further with the divine race member, Zhao Hai realized that the situation was far more complex than he had imagined. The extermination of the goblin clan was not only because their magical technology posed a threat to the divine race's dominion, but also due to an undeniable reason: the order from Lu Wei.
Lu Wei usually issued commands to the divine race through shadow projection, and approximately once a day, the divine race would report back to Lu Wei, informing him of what had happened in their domain.
The conflict with the goblin clan occurred nearly a thousand years ago. At that time, Lu Wei appeared just as Zhao Hai had seen him, and even after a millennium, Lu Wei remained unchanged. This is precisely why the divine race regarded Lu Wei as a supreme deity.
The decision to eliminate the goblins was made after one of the divine race's reports to Lu Wei. At that time, the goblin clan had only recently developed magical puppets, and the divine race naturally received this information. During a report to Lu Wei, they mentioned the situation.
Unexpectedly, Lu Wei took this matter very seriously upon learning about it and immediately ordered that the divine race must spare no effort to eradicate the goblin clan, ensuring they would never be able to produce magical puppets again. The divine race also believed that the magical puppets made by the goblin clan would threaten their control, so they readily agreed to Lu Wei's orders. These two reasons ultimately led to the near-eradication of the goblin clan and the potential loss of their legacy.
On the surface, this matter may not seem significant, but Zhao Hai noticed some inconsistencies.
Lu Wei could not have been unaware of the goblin clan's existence in the past, yet he had never taken action against them. Why, then, when the goblin clan began creating magical puppets, did he choose to strike? This was highly unusual.
Another point of confusion for Zhao Hai was if Lu Wei truly opposed the production of magical puppets, then what was going on in Atlantis? Their mecha was undoubtedly far superior to magical puppets. Why would Lu Wei allow the production of mecha in Atlantis while forbidding the goblin clan from creating magical puppets? This seemed off.
Laura and the others were equally puzzled, frowning as they contemplated the situation. They were all intelligent individuals and naturally recognized the discrepancies, leaving them very perplexed.
Princess Li suddenly said, "Brother Hai, do you think Lu Wei may have suffered losses from magical puppets in the past, which is why he forbids the goblin clan from making them?"
Zhao Hai shook his head, saying, "That shouldn’t be the case. If Lu Wei had indeed suffered from magical puppets before, he should encourage the goblin clan to produce them. That way, he could learn how to create magical puppets himself or identify their flaws. It wouldn't make sense to prevent them from creating magical puppets, yet allow them to be made in Atlantis. Doesn’t that seem strange?"
Laura and the others nodded in agreement, feeling equally puzzled. Zhao Hai looked at the screen and said solemnly, "Perhaps we will understand all of this when we reach the Cultivation World. There’s no point in overthinking it now."
Laura nodded and said, "Alright, Brother Hai, let’s take a break. Tomorrow we will attack the divine race's defense line. We must seize this opportunity; otherwise, we will be at a disadvantage."
Zhao Hai agreed, saying, "It seems we'll have to deploy domain weapons tomorrow to breach the divine race's defenses in the shortest time possible, leaving them no chance to breathe."
Laura replied, "Yes, but tomorrow's battle may be quite difficult. I can see that the divine race has already made preparations. They are aware of our previous magic cannon, spear, and various formation attacks, so they must have devised some countermeasures. It won't be easy to deal with them as we did before."
