CHAPTER EIGHTY-FOUR: Strange Actions

In the middle of the night, a notification sound echoed in the space, informing Zhao Hai that the radishes had matured and were ready for harvesting. However, Zhao Hai paid no attention and continued to sleep until dawn before entering the space.

He wanted to check whether some radishes could be left for seed. When he entered the space the next morning, he found that the radishes had not yet produced seeds; they remained in a mature state, which disappointed Zhao Hai.

Zhao Hai couldn't help but murmur, "It seems they can't be left for seed. What a pity."

Just as his words fell, the notification sound from the space came again: "Non-edible seed crops can only be left for seed after reaching level ten, according to the host's requirements. Please be patient."

Zhao Hai was taken aback, then pleasantly surprised. He had thought that crops like radishes could not be left for seed at all. To his surprise, as long as he reached level ten, he could leave seeds according to his own requirements. This was fantastic!

This further confirmed Zhao Hai's belief that level ten was indeed a critical point. Once he passed this threshold, he could do many more things.

In a good mood, Zhao Hai harvested the radishes, planted another four acres, and also summoned a season's worth of nut oil trees and corn before exiting the space.

Galen had been resting in the manor yesterday, but today he didn't want to rest. After having breakfast the next morning, he went out with the shapeshifter. Just as Zhao Hai had said, the shapeshifter had become very clever; except for not being able to communicate telepathically with Zhao Hai, it could fully execute Zhao Hai's orders.

Zhao Hai was not very worried. When giving orders to the shapeshifter, he instructed it not to let Galen wander too far. If Galen attempted to go further, the shapeshifter would stop him. They could only go as far as four hours away from the manor before needing to return.

Although Galen was not afraid of anything, he appreciated Zhao Hai's goodwill and did not voice any objections. Anyway, the plants in the forest were not necessarily what they needed, so he didn't dwell on it.

In fact, there were many high-level plants in the forest, but it depended on where the forest was. In places like Iron Mountain or some more primitive woods, one could encounter some high-level magical plants. Some of these plants had a certain level of aggressiveness, while others were excellent magical materials. As long as these plants were taken to any city, they could fetch a good price.

Because of this, Zhao Hai held out little hope for Galen’s actions. They could only wait for laborers to return and trade with them. With money, they could buy some useful magical plants from those mercenaries. For now, they were unable to do anything.

As soon as Galen exited Rubble Mountain, those who were monitoring them immediately took notice. Galen was currently inside the shapeshifter, so those people only saw the shapeshifter coming out of Rubble Mountain and had no idea there were people inside it.

However, Galen's actions this time still lifted the spirits of those on lookout; everyone became alert and closely watched the shapeshifter.

What surprised them was that the shapeshifter did not take the main road but instead headed directly up the mountain, which startled those monitoring Zhao Hai greatly.

Those people thought Zhao Hai was a dark mage, and dark mages were known for their eccentric temperaments on the continent. They believed Zhao Hai had discovered them and was coming to deal with them, prompting many to flee.

The ones who fled were mercenaries hired by small families. These mercenaries were different from the death warriors trained by large families. They were merely doing a job for money, and once danger arose, they would quickly run away. In contrast, the death warriors from the big families prioritized completing their tasks above all else; even if it meant sacrificing themselves, as long as they completed their mission, everything was worth it.
