CHAPTER 66: Surprise Attack

Just as several beams of dark light were about to hit Zhao Hai and the other three, a layer of water-blue shield suddenly appeared outside the alien creature. The shield looked thin and transparent, but when the beams of dark light struck it, they couldn't cause any damage.

Once the eight beams of light disappeared, Galen, who was standing on top of the alien creature, suddenly pounced in the direction of one of the beams. Although Galen was still dressed in his armor, the light blue fighting spirit surrounded him completely, and his speed was incredibly fast; in the blink of an eye, he vanished from everyone's sight.

At the same time, Merlin solemnly said to Zhao Hai, "Young master, retreat." Zhao Hai understood that he had to listen to Merlin at this moment, so he quickly commanded the alien creature to fall back.

Just then, several more beams of dark light shot towards them, but Zhao Hai also noticed that the undead beings he had released had already wiped out the undead army of the undead mercenary group. He immediately commanded his undead beings to charge in the direction from which the beams of light were coming.

Zhao Hai and the others had retreated behind a dirt slope, while the eight dark mages had taken cover in the woods, so Laura and the others couldn't see their movements.

This time, when Zhao Hai released those magical beasts, he realized there was a difference. Previously, he had only recalled those magical beasts and hadn't released them all. Now that he had released them completely, a projection of a screen suddenly appeared in front of him. On this projection, small dots of different colored lights flickered—red dots represented them and the undead beings he had released, while green dots represented the people from the Majidel Trading Company. There were also a few small black dots hiding in the woods.

Zhao Hai tried to command the undead beings to pounce towards one of the black dots, and sure enough, the undead beings acted immediately, charging towards that black dot.

Once Zhao Hai saw that he could command them, he instructed the undead beings to stop. He counted the black dots, finding exactly eight. One of them seemed to be entangled with a red dot, which Zhao Hai realized was in the direction Galen had gone. Another black dot was also rushing towards that direction, while the other six black dots were advancing towards them, seemingly intending to deal with them.

Zhao Hai quickly divided the undead beings into seven teams, with six teams consisting of two hundred each, heading straight for those six black dots. The remaining one hundred and fifty-seven, Zhao Hai brought closer to himself, planning to use them to protect himself.

At this moment, Meg whispered a few incantations, and a layer of light blue shield appeared around them, protecting the two of them. Meg did not cast a shield for Grandma Merlin because she trusted that Merlin could handle herself, and her main task was to protect Zhao Hai.

Indeed, as soon as Zhao Hai gave the order, the undead beings immediately split into seven teams. One team returned to surround them in the middle for protection, while the other six teams charged towards the six black dots.

The six black dots also noticed Zhao Hai's intention and immediately quickened their pace, charging towards Zhao Hai and the others. In their view, as long as they got closer to Zhao Hai, they had a chance of winning. If they were surrounded by those undead beings, they would eventually be wiped out by Zhao Hai.

The undead mercenary group had faced many dangers, but the most perilous one was the pursuit by the Xinya Family. While they were alive, each of them had reached the level of seventh level dark mages. However, after being hunted by the Xinya Family, they all turned into undead beings. Now, their true level was only around that of a sixth level mage. If it weren't for the nature of dark magic being so bizarre, they wouldn't have been able to run rampant on the continent.
