Chapter 61: The Strange Combination
Is it simple? In fact, it is not simple at all. A trading company that spans half the continent can transmit messages so quickly; is that simple? Don’t forget, this is the Ark Continent, not Earth, where information explodes, and everyone has a smartphone with the internet at their fingertips.
The Majidel Trading Company’s ability to achieve this on the Ark Continent clearly demonstrates its strength. Such a trading company, indeed, is one that no one wants to provoke, even an empire would hesitate to meddle with such a company; it is too dangerous.
Zhao Hai quietly listened to Galen's words. He realized that he had truly underestimated this world. Although this world may not have the technological advancements of Earth, it has its own unique development trajectory, and his understanding of this world is still too limited.
After thinking for a moment, Zhao Hai asked Galen, "Grandpa Galen, why do you think they are paying attention to us? There are many mages on the continent; they can't possibly focus on every single one of them, right?"
Galen smiled and said, "The reason is that young master, you are a dark mage. No matter where a dark mage goes, they will attract attention, especially since we have not come from Iron Mountain through Black Mountain Pass. Our sudden appearance will naturally draw more scrutiny."
Zhao Hai nodded and said, "So we will leave tomorrow?"
Galen nodded in agreement, "Yes, we will leave tomorrow. Young master, staying in a hotel like this for one night costs two gold coins. To be honest, if we stay a few more nights, we really might not be able to afford it."
Zhao Hai let out a bitter laugh. Money is indeed a problem. Thinking about other transmigrators who arrive in an unfamiliar world only to quickly become wealthy or rise to high positions, surrounded by beauties vying for their attention, he, on the other hand, has a measly piece of territory to manage and has to consider the food and drink for over a hundred people. Not to mention dodging occasional attacks from magical beasts. The most frustrating part is that, despite having a space as a cheat, he is still completely broke and can’t even afford a hotel.
Seeing Zhao Hai's expression, Galen assumed Zhao Hai was feeling sad about their current situation. He hurried to comfort him, "Young master, once we sell the radishes, we will have money. There's no need to be upset."
Zhao Hai didn’t want to explain anything to Galen, so he just smiled and said, "I'm fine. However, in the future, let's avoid staying in hotels like this. We can find a place outside the city and stay in the space instead."
Galen nodded, "We are only staying for one day to attract the attention of the Majidel family. After this, we won't stay here again."
Zhao Hai nodded and then carefully examined the room. To be honest, the room was quite spacious, with a living room, five bedrooms, and a bathroom; it was indeed not bad.
At that moment, there was a knock at the door. Galen quickly got up to open it. A waiter stood outside with a large tray, which held several loaves of bread and three plates of food that looked decent.
Galen took the plates and casually gave the waiter a few copper coins as a tip, sending him on his way. What he didn’t know was that after the waiter left, he immediately ran to a very discreet room in the hotel and knocked on the door. A fat boss's voice came from inside, "Come in."
The waiter pushed the door open and entered. This was a simple bedroom with minimal furnishings; aside from a bed, there was only a table and a chair. The fat boss was sitting on the chair, holding a pen and seemingly writing something.
Without looking up, he asked, "Did you find anything?"
The waiter stood respectfully and replied in a low voice, "Their identity might not be simple; they are likely of noble descent, but their living conditions don't seem too good. The meals I delivered were just ordinary food; they didn't say anything, and they naturally gave me a tip, although it wasn't much."
