CHAPTER 59: First Encounter with Adventurers
Zhao Hai really did not expect something like this to happen. There are actually people in this world who dare to impersonate dark mages. To know that dark mages are a group of individuals whom everyone in this world is reluctant to provoke. It is truly a strange place that someone dares to impersonate a dark mage here at Black Mountain Pass.
Galen clearly noticed Zhao Hai's confusion. He smiled slightly and said, "There is nothing strange about this. This is a paradise for mercenaries and adventurers. Those daring guys will do anything."
Zhao Hai nodded and replied, "Alright, I’ll follow your lead. Let’s go."
After saying that, he helped Galen and Merlin onto the back of the creature. Galen was now wearing a shining armor that made him look like an iron can, but to be honest, the armor does look quite majestic when worn.
However, Zhao Hai also knew that this armor was just for show. Especially for a skilled fighter like Galen, it would hardly provide any real protection. If he ever needed to rely on this for his safety, it would mean he had already lost.
Meg, dressed in maid's attire, quietly accompanied Zhao Hai inside the creature's chest cavity. She had seen Zhao Hai sitting inside before but had never tried it herself. Now that she was sitting there, she felt a bit curious.
However, she soon realized that sitting here was not very comfortable. Although the boards were covered with a thick layer of cotton, it still felt hard to sit on, and the space in the chest cavity was not very large either.
Despite the creature being an impressive ten meters in length, most of that length was concentrated in its tail, which was about five meters long. Coupled with the nearly two-meter long head, the remaining length of its body left only about two meters for the chest cavity, with a height of only about one meter. Fortunately, they were sitting under the creature's ribcage, which had gaps, allowing them to stand up as if they were in a convertible car.
Today, Galen did not sit there but instead perched on the creature's skull. The skull had a considerable area, and Galen could easily stand or sit on it. With his skills, even sleeping there wouldn't pose a problem.
The creature didn’t have any feelings and naturally didn’t mind having someone ride on its head. Although it had become Zhao Hai's summoned beast, it did not mean it had emotions. It had simply forgotten its inherent desire for flesh and blood, which could also be said to have been erased by the space, like a machine reprogrammed to have no feelings.
The three of them slowly left the woods and returned to the Valley of Oblivion, where they still didn’t see anyone. Zhao Hai didn’t mind and directed the creature straight towards Black Mountain Pass.
They were not far from Black Mountain Pass. After about half an hour of walking, they saw the distant city walls and the people coming in and out of the city gates, although they could not make out their appearances from that distance.
Zhao Hai was not polite and immediately commanded the creature to head straight for Black Mountain Pass. Galen had told him earlier that as long as he sat on the creature entering Black Mountain Pass, no one would dare to easily offend them or investigate their background. There was no power on the continent that liked to provoke dark mages.
The three sat on the creature’s back, swaggering towards Black Mountain Pass. In less than five minutes, they encountered a small group of mercenaries on the road. This small group had only five people, each carrying an adventurer's backpack, and they looked at Zhao Hai's group with a mix of surprise and uncertainty.
However, upon seeing the gigantic body of the creature, they instinctively stepped aside and stood by the road. Just as Galen had said, these people did not dare to provoke a dark mage, especially one who had such a powerful undead summoned beast.
Zhao Hai's body did not move, but his eyes were assessing the mercenaries. They were wearing simple leather armor, each carrying a weapon and a backpack, and nothing else.
