Chapter 56: I Won't Let You Have It Easy Either

The two quickly entered the Valley of Oblivion. Zhao Hai did not put away the alien creature, nor did he need to. If his identity was that of a dark mage, having an alien creature with him was not excessive, especially in the wilderness where no one would care. However, when entering a city, dark mages typically put away their summoned battle beasts or undead beings.

The sides of the valley were not steep mountain walls but two gentle slopes covered with some shrubs and grass. However, it was evident that the trees here were much stronger than those near the castle; at least they looked vibrant and alive, unlike the sickly trees around the castle.

In the Valley of Oblivion, there were no people to be seen, only the occasional sound of insects, creating a remarkably harmonious and natural atmosphere.

Galen turned to Zhao Hai and said, “Young master, once we reach the mountain, find a place and go into the space immediately. I’ll go to Black Mountain Pass to buy some clothes. When I return, we can go together.”

Zhao Hai nodded and directed the alien creature to climb the mountain. The alien creature, which was just a skeleton now, had sharp claws, making it easy to ascend.

Although they were still in Iron Mountain, the trees here were much better than those near the castle, with thick trunks of various kinds that Zhao Hai could not name.

He couldn’t distinguish these trees from those on Earth; back on Earth, he knew very little about trees. Besides common types like poplar, willow, elm, and pine, he hardly recognized any others.

Galen sat beside Zhao Hai and said, “Young master, the woods here are quite dangerous. Not only are there magical beasts roaming about, but some plants also possess strong toxins, so we must be careful.”

Zhao Hai nodded. Although he had never been to a primitive forest like this, it was well-known online as a dangerous place. Writers typically set such locations as perilous, and even in realistic novels, forests were depicted as hazardous. With magical beasts present in this world, he obviously had to be more cautious.

The vegetation on the mountain was incredibly well-preserved, with various trees everywhere. As soon as they entered the woods, the light dimmed, creating a chilling atmosphere.

After walking for a while in the woods, they finally found a concealed spot. They jumped off the alien creature, and Zhao Hai directly stored it in the space before he and Galen also entered.

Inside the space, the corn was still growing robustly, and the oilseed was healthy. The slaves were still learning to write, and Merlin didn’t have much to do now, other than teaching the slaves to write and preparing meals.

However, it couldn’t be said that she was entirely free. This time in the castle, Zhao Hai had stored several stones mined by Ann and the others in the space so they could attempt to make some mills and grinders when they had the time.

Additionally, Zhao Hai had also stored a lot of grass in the space, wanting to give the slaves something to do. People need activities alongside learning, which is why Zhao Hai thought of having them do these tasks.

Surprisingly, the results were quite good. These tasks were not an issue for the slaves and provided a nice balance between work and rest.

When Merlin and the others saw both of them entering at the same time, they were momentarily taken aback. Normally, Galen and Zhao Hai wouldn’t enter the space unless there was something important. If they wanted to meet, they’d have to come out of the space.

Merlin hurriedly approached and asked, “Young master, Galen, why did you come in? Did something happen?”

Galen smiled and replied, “Nothing happened. We’re already in the Valley of Oblivion. In the woods of Iron Mountain, I’ll have the young master stay in the space for a while. I’m going to Black Mountain Pass to get two sets of clothes, and then we’ll go out together.”

Merlin understood Galen’s intent and nodded, “Alright, you go quickly. We’ll wait for you here. By the way, remember this location so you don’t lose your way back.”
