CHAPTER 521: The Ugly Man Atai (Seeking Subscription)

The style of the carriage was clearly produced in the prairie, filled with the characteristics of the orc tribe.

The carriage quickly arrived in front of Zhao Hai and the others, and the driver stopped the carriage before jumping down. Laura smiled and nodded, saying, “Atai, it’s been years since we last met, and you seem to have gotten even darker. Come, let me introduce you to my husband, Zhao Hai.”

Atai turned to Zhao Hai and bowed, saying, “Greetings, son-in-law!” Zhao Hai was not very accustomed to this title, but he still smiled and replied, “No need for formalities. You’ve worked hard these years. By the way, you can call me young master from now on.”

Atai raised his head, smiling foolishly, and said, “Yes, young master. It’s not hard at all; we have food and drink here every day, living quite well.”

Zhao Hai looked at Atai in surprise; he never expected that the steward Laura left in the prairie would be this seemingly silly and ugly fellow. Was she not worried that this person would sell things at a loss?

Then Laura began to introduce Meigen and the others to Atai. When Atai greeted Meigen and the others, Zhao Hai paid attention to his surroundings, noticing that the merchants nearby seemed to recognize Atai and were pointing at him.

Zhao Hai concentrated and listened to their conversation. He heard one merchant say to another, “Look, isn't that silly Atai? Why did he come out of the city?”

Another replied, “Who knows? But look at how respectful he is; the person he’s with must be his superior. I’ve heard that this fellow seems to be from the budah family. That just now, the undead being, could it be that the family head Zhao Hai is here?”

The first merchant said, “It’s possible. If it really is Zhao Hai, then Atai is in trouble. With the price of food so high now, he actually sold all his grain at a low price. This fool is probably going to have bad luck this time.”

The other added, “Lower your voice. I hear this Zhao Hai isn’t a simple person; he’s known for being ruthless on the continent. If he hears us speaking poorly of Atai, we’ll be in trouble.”

The first merchant snorted, “What’s there to be afraid of? This is Beast God City, where no fighting is allowed within a thousand miles. If he dares to make a move, those orcs won’t let him off.” Despite saying this, he lowered his voice significantly.

Another chimed in, “Don’t say that. Even if he doesn’t dare to cause us trouble here in Beast God City, he can still create problems for us outside. This is the Orc Prairie; if he kills us, our families might think it was the orcs.” After saying this, both stopped speaking.

Zhao Hai roughly understood the situation. He glanced at the ugly man who was talking with Laura, feeling somewhat surprised. If Atai were like those human merchants who refused to sell grain at a fair price, Zhao Hai would indeed be disappointed, but now he felt nothing but satisfaction.

At this point, Atai had finished greeting Laura and immediately beckoned Zhao Hai and the others to get onto the carriage. They did not hesitate and climbed aboard, with Atai personally driving as they headed toward Beast God City.
