Chapter 519: The Sun? (Please Subscribe)
The way the beastmen store gold is somewhat different from the humans. For humans, gold is a circulating currency, usually made into coins. However, for the orc tribe, gold does not circulate; they primarily barter using magical beasts, so their gold is made into gold ingots.
This tent was almost entirely filled with gold ingots stacked one after another, which absolutely constituted a significant wealth. Hans looked at Zhao Hai, eager to see his reaction upon seeing these gold ingots.
In the past, the werewolf tribe had traded with some humans, and Hans had brought human merchants to the treasury before. Upon seeing these gold ingots, those human merchants drooled, instantly forgetting about Hans and focusing solely on the gold ingots. Some even lunged at the ingots, kissing them now and then, which made Hans feel nauseous.
Hans wanted to see Zhao Hai's expression upon witnessing these gold ingots, but when he saw Zhao Hai’s face, he was taken aback. Zhao Hai merely cast a casual glance at the gold ingots before turning his attention to the tent as if the gold ingots had no appeal at all.
Zhao Hai's reaction surprised Hans immensely. Although Hans had never been to the human territories, he knew that transactions there were conducted using coins and was aware that these gold ingots represented a large fortune. The reason he brought Zhao Hai here was to test him, to see if he was a greedy person.
The werewolf tribe rarely traded with human merchants because they did not trust humans, thinking them too greedy. Therefore, if they wanted to find a long-term trading partner, they needed someone who wasn't overly greedy, and this treasury was a test.
The merchants who had previously visited this treasury had all been killed by Hans and his group to feed their mounts. This time, he wanted to observe Zhao Hai’s performance. If Zhao Hai behaved well, they would establish a long-term partnership with him; if he also displayed greed, they would not kill him out of respect for the Herculean Bull Tribe, Mastiff Race, and Bear Race, but it would be difficult for Zhao Hai to collaborate with them.
Although Hans was surprised by Zhao Hai’s behavior, he was also very satisfied. At that moment, Zhao Hai was genuinely surprised himself because he discovered that this was not just the orc tribe's treasury but also their treasure vault. There were many good items inside that Zhao Hai did not recognize, but just based on their appearances, they all seemed significant.
Seeing that Zhao Hai was still surveying the surroundings, Hans spoke in a deep voice, "Sir, you can take the gold ingots; we will exchange three hundred million pounds of food for them. Please feel free to handle it yourself."
Zhao Hai turned to Hans and smiled, "There’s no rush. It seems this is your treasure vault. Is it possible for me to pick one item from this vault in exchange for food? If that item’s value exceeds that of the food, I can bring more food in exchange. What do you think?"
Hans paused, then looked at Zhao Hai with a strange expression. The reason for his reaction was that Zhao Hai had misunderstood; this was not the werewolf tribe's treasure vault, but merely their treasury. Besides the gold ingots, there were some curious and bizarre items that the werewolf tribe had no use for or could not understand; they were not treasures.
Because of this, when Zhao Hai suggested exchanging food for these items, Hans looked at him with that kind of expression. Zhao Hai, seeing Hans's look, asked in confusion, "What’s the matter? Is that not allowed?"
Hans shook his head and replied, "I can't make that decision. I need to ask the clan leader. Please follow me outside, sir." Zhao Hai nodded and followed Hans out of the treasury, where Hans went to find the wolf king, leaving Zhao Hai standing by the treasury.
The reason Zhao Hai made this request was that he noticed something peculiar in the tent: a metallic object placed inside a crystal bottle. Strangely, this metallic object was bubbling like boiling water, surrounded by a layer of light blue flames that went unnoticed unless one paid close attention.
