CHAPTER 476: Absolute Magic Isolation Powder (Seeking Subscription)
Looking around and seeing that there were no people nearby, Xu Wanying turned to Shun Yi and said, “Shun Yi, what do you think about tonight's operation? Will it be successful?”
Shun Yi smiled slightly and replied, “It will definitely be successful. With Cai'er’s help, and those undead beings, there's no reason it shouldn't succeed. By the way, the young master said that as long as we grow the required herbs recently, we can level up. By then, we’ll be eighth-level experts.”
Xu Wanying chuckled and said, “Being around the young master is enough. What does it matter if we become eighth-level experts? Even if we did reach eighth-level, it wouldn’t help the young master much unless we became ninth-level.”
Shun Yi sighed and said, “Reaching ninth-level is not that easy. If it were, Manager Galen, Grandma Merlin, and Grandpa Kun Zheng would have all become ninth-level experts long ago.” Just as he spoke, Shun Yi suddenly changed his expression and lowered his voice to Xu Wanying, “Wanying, be careful. There’s something off; I sense killing intent.”
Xu Wanying nodded, “I feel it too. I’ll notify the young master immediately.” With that thought, Xu Wanying summoned a clone that appeared in the carriage and knocked three times on the carriage box.
This was a signal; as long as Xu Wanying knocked three times, Cai'er would know something was happening outside and would immediately notify Zhao Hai.
Cai'er soon noticed that Xu Wanying’s clone was knocking on the carriage box. She quickly appeared in the living room and said to Zhao Hai, “Young master, Wanying is knocking on the carriage box outside. Something might have happened.”
Zhao Hai, who was joking with Galen and the others, was slightly taken aback and immediately said, “What’s going on? Quickly bring up the monitor.” Cai'er acknowledged him and adjusted the monitor to show the outside.
Now, the monitoring distance was further than before; the area within ten miles was under surveillance. Zhao Hai held the monitor, and indeed, many red dots appeared on the screen.
These red dots represented people, but they weren’t them; they were ambushers stationed on both sides of the road. The ox cart was now moving closer to the center of this ambush circle. Zhao Hai counted the numbers, estimating that there were around five hundred people, all of whom were experts—most were sixth and seventh-level experts, with dozens of eighth-level experts. They were all wearing armor and wielding various weapons. Most importantly, they had over twenty ballistae set up.
These ballistae couldn’t be used without proper installation; it seemed these people had been equipped for quite some time, lying in ambush for several hours at least.
Zhao Hai’s figure flickered, and he appeared in the carriage, informing Shun Yi and Xu Wanying of the situation and telling them to prepare. He instructed them that when he said "flash," they should immediately lie down and not move, leaving the rest to him.
The two naturally wouldn’t say anything. They were well aware of Zhao Hai's capabilities and quickly agreed, concentrating their attention.
Zhao Hai didn’t return to the space but sat in the carriage, watching the people on the monitor. He noticed a bearded man with a grim expression who seemed to be the commander, sitting in front of a ballista, raising his hand and staring unblinkingly at their cart. The arrow on his ballista was a signal arrow.
Upon seeing this signal arrow, Zhao Hai realized it was time, and he also noticed something unusual with the other ballistae. Each one had a small black canister tied to the arrow shaft, and he couldn't tell what it was for.
If this were ancient Earth, Zhao Hai would first guess it was explosives. Unfortunately, this was the Ark Continent, where explosives didn't exist, and he couldn’t think of what was inside those canisters.
However, Zhao Hai was certain it wasn’t anything good, and he noticed that the bearded man was about to give an order. Zhao Hai immediately shouted, “Flash!” Almost simultaneously with his command, the bearded man issued his order.
