Chapter 469: Alibi

Laura and the others sat together, gazing at Zhao Hai with a sense of admiration. They found him standing in the center to be the most handsome, and at that moment, Zhao Hai was so dazzling that even his not-so-outstanding looks seemed exceptionally different.

What Laura and the others appreciated was not Zhao Hai's appearance—there were many who were more handsome than him—but rather the aura he exuded, a charm that was distinctly different from everyone else on the continent. It was this unique quality that deeply attracted them.

Zhao Hai's aura was, of course, different from that of Ark Continent. A person's aura is closely linked to their living environment; it’s impossible for someone living in a slum to possess the aura of generations of nobility. Similarly, Zhao Hai lived on Earth. Although this world had magical powers and fighting spirit that did not exist on Earth, it also lacked the advanced technological civilization and egalitarian principles found there. Thus, the aura Zhao Hai developed on Earth became unique and incredibly appealing on Ark Continent.

Jason shared some similarities with Zhao Hai in terms of aura, but only slightly. Jason's aura was one of rebellion, not the egalitarian spirit of Earth. Even so, he was seen as a major oddity in the Roson Empire, let alone Zhao Hai.

Zhao Hai's aura was also different from Jason’s; he had a relatively mild temperament and was constantly striving to adapt to everything in Ark Continent. Coupled with Adam's memories, he was essentially half a local. The fusion of these two completely different auras made him even more attractive.

That night, the entire Iron Mountain Fortress was inebriated. Regardless of gender, everyone was drunk. Their expressions varied; some stood there laughing loudly, while others sat, sobbing softly.

Zhao Hai and Galen sat to the side, not drunk themselves. They looked at the drunken slaves and orcs, feeling uneasy. The slaves had lived in hellish conditions compared to their current lives, and the orcs were in a similar situation. They were just a small tribe, subjected to exploitation, struggling to make ends meet, and it was already fortunate if they didn’t starve in winter.

Zhao Hai provided them with a completely different life, one where they could laugh joyously, cry unabashedly, indulge in meat, and drink rich milk wine. They remembered all this and felt nothing but gratitude towards Zhao Hai.

However, Zhao Hai felt more responsibility; these people were his subordinates, all part of the budah family. He needed to make their lives better, and that was his duty.

Laura and the others were more emotional. Watching the slaves venting their feelings with laughter and tears made their hearts ache, especially Meg, whose eyes were brimming with tears, eliciting sympathy.

It wasn't until everyone had fallen asleep that Zhao Hai ordered the undead beings to carry them back home and tidy up the square.

While cleaning, Zhao Hai discovered just how much these folks could eat. Not only had the gigantic blade scale whale been completely consumed, but the dishes they prepared were all gone, including the roasted Mighty Bulls and roasted mountain goats. This was truly surprising to Zhao Hai, as it was a considerable amount of food.

Leaving the undead beings to clean up, Zhao Hai and the others returned to the living room of the Iron Mountain Fortress and sat down. After everyone was seated, Zhao Hai recounted the events of the past two days to Galen, including his feud with Robert and his desire for revenge.

Upon hearing Zhao Hai, Galen did not react much, merely nodding and asking, "Young master, how do you intend to deal with the robert family? Do you want to wipe them out directly?"

Zhao Hai shook his head. "No, directly wiping them out is too big a target and would raise alarms throughout the entire Roson Empire, which would be detrimental to our future development. I can't do that. Over the years, the robert family has made many enemies. As long as we severely injure them, there will be plenty of people wanting to finish them off. By then, even if they wanted to turn the tables, it would be impossible."
