CHAPTER 452: Daily Life
Dia fiddled with the Evil Spirit Staff for a while and realized he really couldn't use it. He then looked up at Zhao Hai and said, "Little Hai, didn't you say that this staff will return to your hand with just a thought, no matter whose hand it is in? Try it and let me see."
Zhao Hai smiled and nodded. Dia gripped the Evil Spirit Staff tightly, and Zhao Hai, seeing his expression, smiled slightly. With a thought, Dia felt the staff lighten in his hand, then it disappeared from his grasp and reappeared in Zhao Hai's hand.
Smith and the others had been watching the two. Upon seeing this, they were momentarily stunned, watching as the staff vanished from Dia's hand and appeared in Zhao Hai's. This was something they had never encountered before, nor had they even heard of it.
After a while, Smith exchanged glances with the others, then looked at Zhao Hai in amazement. Zhao Hai, seeing their expressions, smiled slightly and said, "This thing is truly remarkable. I don’t know how it works; I haven’t figured out all its capabilities yet and am still exploring."
Smith nodded and said, "So that's how it is. No wonder your power has increased so much in such a short time; it’s because of this staff."
Zhao Hai nodded. Mike, sitting nearby, looked at Zhao Hai and asked, "Little Hai, what level is your power at now?"
Zhao Hai smiled and said, "I've already reached level eight; I can use level eight magic now."
Smith and the others' eyes brightened. A level eight expert could dominate a region on the continent. Smith added, "No wonder the third prince is so polite to you; it’s because of this."
Zhao Hai nodded, saying, "Exactly. Your highness the third prince knows my strength, so he wants to recruit me. Although I agreed, I can’t fully consider myself his subordinate. We are just cooperating; I help him, and he helps me. If it really comes down to it, I could be considered one of his advisors."
Advisors were common in noble families; they were similar to retainers but had more freedom. Their relationship with the family was more of an employment one, where they could leave if they wished. Usually, advisors were renowned figures on the continent, possessing not only strong combat abilities but also great wisdom to contribute ideas to the family. Such people held high positions in the family.
Smith nodded, saying, "Good. Little Hai made a wise choice, not fully tying yourself to the third prince; otherwise, it might become more troublesome. Anyway, let’s not discuss this anymore. Let’s go drink."
After speaking, he led everyone to the dining hall. Once there, Smith invited everyone to sit. The lady and Meigen had already withdrawn, leaving the dining hall for the men.
Servants brought out food and drinks. Smith sat at the head of the table and smiled, saying, "Divine Grace Day is coming soon, so us brothers should gather with these few young folks. I wanted to invite Fifth Brother as well, but he won’t come because of his issues with Little Hai. I have no choice; today I invited you all just to let you get to know Little Hai, so he doesn’t offend you in the future."
Zhao Hai raised his glass, looking a bit embarrassed at the others. Peter and the others chuckled at Zhao Hai’s expression. Although they were competing for the position, they were all smart enough not to do anything that would harm the Karlqi family. They were different from Zhu Wan, which was why their relationship with him wasn't good. Therefore, in their gatherings, it was usually just them, and Zhu Wan rarely attended.
Mike looked at Zhao Hai and smiled slightly, saying, "I don’t think so. Although today is the first time I’m meeting Little Hai, I can see some qualities in him. Coupled with what I've heard previously, I can assure you that if not for my little brother provoking Little Hai first, he wouldn't have taken action. Plus, since Third Uncle directly confronts Little Hai, he wouldn’t have acted that way otherwise."
Zhao Hai smiled slightly and raised his glass to Mike, saying, "Fourth Uncle, you flatter me. I’m just an ignorant junior and don’t deserve your praise."
