Chapter 399: Waiting
As soon as Laura and the others heard Zhao Hai say this, they all laughed. They knew that Zhao Hai was just joking and didn't really have any particular thoughts about Ryan. Just as Zhao Hai and the others had said before, Ryan was no longer worthy of Zhao Hai.
However, Laura still said, "Who did Uncle Ivan send to pick her up? Should we keep an eye on her? After all, she left with us in perfect condition. It wouldn't be good if something happened by the time she got home."
Zhao Hai nodded, "That's a good idea. I'll send the Blood Eagle to follow them. If anything happens, we can help immediately."
Laura smiled and said, "That won't be necessary. Little Hai, I think sending the Arrowfish Ship is enough. With the Arrowfish Ship providing support, they shouldn't run into any trouble. Plus, if only the Arrowfish Ship is there, we can monitor the situation at any time. If we send the Blood Eagle, we would need it to carry the Evil Spirit Staff, which would make things inconvenient. What do you think?"
Zhao Hai nodded, "That's a good idea. Now that we have so many ships at our disposal, we might as well use them for this."
Laura laughed and said, "If you send all our ships out, it might scare the Aksu Empire’s navy. They might think the princess of the Roson Empire is heading to the Aksu Empire."
Zhao Hai couldn't help but laugh. It wasn't surprising they thought that, as they had fifteen ships in total, including eleven three-masted warships and four five-masted heavily armored cargo ships. Such numbers were indeed astonishing.
Although three-masted warships were the most common type of warship in a country, they were still warships nonetheless. Five-masted armored merchant ships, on the other hand, were not something just anyone could afford.
The construction cost of armored ships was high, and they required maintenance every year. If a battle occurred, immediate repairs were necessary after the fight. Because of this, not everyone could afford to maintain an armored ship. Even if they were not used, significant maintenance fees would still accumulate yearly.
For these reasons, five-masted heavily armored merchant ships were usually controlled by large families. Even Zhao Hai’s Peach Blossom Ship might have originally belonged to a prominent family in the Azure Wave Dynasty before Zhao Hai took it.
If he truly sent all his ships to escort Ryan, the Aksu Empire might genuinely believe a princess from that country was arriving, which wasn’t an exaggeration at all.
Acting upon the idea, Zhao Hai quickly called back the Blood Eagle and then sent it out again to find the ship Ryan was on. The flying eagle was quite fast, and before dark, it had already located Ryan's ship.
Although Ryan had boarded the ship, it was merely a very ordinary three-masted cargo ship without any special features. Besides Ryan, there were several guards and maids sent by the Versailles Family. Zhao Hai noticed there were three acolytes from the Versailles Family, all being eighth-level warriors, but all were just warriors.
Such strength was already impressive, as an eighth-level warrior would be considered a master on the continent, unlike someone like Zhao Hai, who was extraordinary.
Now that they had spotted Ryan, Zhao Hai and the others weren't in a hurry. He planned to wait until nightfall to let the Arrowfish Ship follow Ryan's ship, ensuring that no one would notice.
As the sky began to darken, Zhao Hai and the others emerged from the spatial realm. Not long after they came out, Charlie also emerged from his room, looking well-rested.
Zhao Hai immediately had someone move chairs to the deck, and they sat there enjoying the ocean view and chatting. To be honest, it was quite a unique experience.
After dinner, Charlie returned to his room for some rest. Zhao Hai also went back to his room, as it was getting dark, and they needed to find a time to send out the Arrowfish Ship to follow Ryan.
Before long, night fell completely. Zhao Hai wasn’t anxious; he just monitored Ryan's situation through the screen. Perhaps it was due to the many experiences she had gone through recently, Ryan had matured. She wasn't as flamboyant as before. The servants sent to pick her up also noticed the change; she was much quieter than before and more understanding. She was polite to the servants, which surprised them.
