Chapter 391: Two Days
Zhao Hai was busy dealing with matters in the space while also managing the affairs at Iron Mountain Fortress. Of course, he upgraded the space immediately and informed Galen and the others that he could begin detoxification right away.
Galen and the others were so excited that tears streamed down their faces. For them, there was no better news than this. They believed that as long as Zhao Hai's body recovered, even if the space vanished immediately, they would be willing to accept it. To them, nothing was more important than Zhao Hai regaining his health.
Days passed quickly, and the Peach Blossom was sailing steadily through the sea. It was now the tenth day since they encountered the shrimp tribe people. The matters at Iron Mountain Fortress were nearly settled, and the medicinal herbs in the space had been collected, though the quantity was still insufficient. They had to wait another three days for the herbs to be fully harvested before he could process the detoxification medicine.
At the same time, the fruit trees and breadfruit trees in the space were also planted. However, these plants grew at the same rate as those outside the space, so they were not yet noticeable.
The processing plant was not idle either; it had finished processing the bamboo rice and wheat that Zhao Hai and the others had stored, and was now working on extracting fruit oil.
With the space now capable of breeding animals in large quantities, Zhao Hai released the mountain goats he had obtained from the grasslands to be raised outside. The ranch saw an increase in various animals, both herbivorous and carnivorous. Zhao Hai understood now why the ranch had said they no longer needed to add feed. The carnivorous animals could simply eat the herbivorous ones, while the herbivorous animals grazed on the grass that grew in the ranch.
Since the space had expanded, all the grass in the ranch was accessible to the animals, and the animals had the ability to migrate. Thus, Zhao Hai didn’t have to worry about the grasslands being destroyed. Plus, with Mu'er watching over everything, he truly didn't have to fret about those animals anymore.
Zhao Hai also noticed that the grass in the ranch grew much faster than the grass outside, though it was still not as quick as that in the red soil region. Nonetheless, he had no cause for concern.
The reason Zhao Hai placed some carnivorous animals in the space was to ensure the herbivorous animals maintained a stable population. For the ranch to evolve into a small world, it was essential to maintain a balance. If there were only herbivorous animals in a world, their number would increase dramatically over time, eventually leading to the destruction of the grasslands and the environment. This is why Zhao Hai established a food chain in the ranch.
Of course, this food chain would lead to considerable expenses for Zhao Hai, since those carnivorous animals needed to consume meat. However, he wasn't worried. Once a complete food chain was established, as long as it wasn't excessively disrupted, everything would be fine.
The ranch had ample food, and Zhao Hai released many herbivorous animals, but the number of carnivorous animals was still relatively low. This couldn’t be considered a complete food chain because an excess of herbivorous animals would eventually damage the grasslands. However, Zhao Hai was currently managing a ranch, not just an animal pen; these herbivorous animals would ultimately be slaughtered for meat.
Before long, Zhao Hai realized he was overthinking things. The ranch had indeed evolved into a small world, but its essence had not changed. The animals continued to reproduce and grow digitally; only the breeding methods had changed.
With this in mind, Zhao Hai couldn’t help but ponder. If he continued to raise magical beasts to such an extent, he would eventually surpass the entire orc tribe, which would be terrifying. At that point, the products he produced would become unsellable due to sheer excess, and if he sold everything at once, the economic impact on the continent would be devastating. It could even spark wars across the continent.
