CHAPTER 39: New Function

Zhao Hai did not pay much attention to how Merlin and the others were teaching, as he knew they would not disappoint him. After all, Merlin was an eighth-level grand mage, and there were not many mages like her in the Aksu Empire. Merlin had had a few students before, but they had died in battle while following Adam's father.

Thus, Merlin had substantial teaching experience, making her the best choice to educate those slaves. However, Zhao Hai was currently troubled by the issue of the slaves' meals.

Yes, once the corn was harvested, they would have firewood, and the warehouse had rice and flour, so food would not be a problem. But Zhao Hai thought of a critical issue: once the fire was lit, there would inevitably be smoke. Given the limited space available, if the smoke could not be vented out, it would linger in the area, which would not be good.

Zhao Hai's biggest concern was whether this smoke could cause pollution in the space. However, he couldn't express these worries openly—he certainly couldn't let the slaves gnaw on radishes every day. He decided to let them cook first and see how it went. If it turned out to be unmanageable, he would minimize the cooking frequency and consider venting the smoke when they could eventually leave the space.

Another worry for Zhao Hai was the situation outside. He was uncertain about the condition of the castle. If it had been damaged by magical beasts, they would have nowhere to stay once they exited, which would be more troublesome.

After pacing around the room without coming up with a good solution, Zhao Hai approached the display screen at the head of his bed. The screen was off, appearing dark.

Zhao Hai was unsure how to turn on the display and softly said, "On."

The display screen showed no response, leaving Zhao Hai in a dilemma. There were no apparent buttons or markings, and he truly didn't know what to do.

He reached out and touched the display. To his surprise, as soon as his hand made contact, the screen lit up, and various tools, stores, and warehouse icons appeared on the screen.

Zhao Hai was momentarily stunned; he remembered that the last time he turned on this screen, it only displayed a shop icon and a brief introduction to a farm. He hadn't expected that this time the screen would show so many icons.

However, he did not pay much attention to the information on the screen, as he could easily control it with his mind. He thought there was no need to examine the details further.

Just as Zhao Hai was about to turn off the screen, he suddenly noticed an icon that resembled a camera, which was not part of anything related to the farm.

Zhao Hai was taken aback; while such an icon appearing on a computer would be normal, it seemed quite strange on this screen.

He hesitated for a moment and clicked on that icon, curious to see what it was. As soon as his finger touched the icon, it emitted a beam of white light that shot directly at his forehead, flooding his mind with information.

The influx of information was overwhelming, so Zhao Hai had to close his eyes and lie down on the bed to properly digest it.

After a while, he finally processed all the information and opened his eyes, dissatisfied, saying, "Isn't it just a monitoring device? Why is it written so elaborately?"

Zhao Hai understood what the icon was for. It had appeared because he had visited various places, and it was similar to a monitoring device. However, it had a larger range. Currently, due to the low level of the space, it could only monitor things within a hundred meters of the spot where Zhao Hai entered the space. In other words, he could see everything within a hundred meters of his entry point as he monitored the area, and as the space's level increased, the range he could see would also expand.

This was a great solution to Zhao Hai's earlier dilemma about how to know what was happening outside.

Zhao Hai quickly sat up, walked over to the screen, and touched it again. The screen lit up once more. He clicked on the camera icon, and instantly, a three-dimensional image of the castle appeared on the screen.
