Chapter 263: Gasol's Troubles
Compared to Wells and the others, Gasol was not so happy right now. He was very clear that although he had become the clan leader of the Herculean Bull Tribe, the people in the tribe did not respect him. First, there was the defection of Mendez and the others, and then there was the sudden passing of his father. The tribe members were already murmuring, and if he did not quickly settle this matter, his situation would become extremely difficult.
In order to eliminate this hidden danger as soon as possible, Gasol sought help from the Bullfighting Tribe, asking them to send troops to cooperate with his guards to hunt down Mendez, hoping to find Wells' whereabouts through Mendez and eliminate both of them together.
However, Gasol did not anticipate Zhao Hai's appearance, nor did he expect that by nightfall, he would encounter the undead army.
Gasol did not know when Wells had established contact with the dark mages of the human race. It should be noted that a dark mage capable of summoning four thousand undead beings was either a powerful dark mage or part of a team of dark mages. Either option was extremely dangerous.
Gasol was now regretting his decision to pursue them at such an inopportune time. If he had encountered Wells during the day, he could have launched an attack without any worries. But now, it was dark, and fighting undead beings at night was no different than seeking death.
The most troublesome aspect of the undead was that they excelled in night battles, and they were not afraid of death. These mindless undead beings had no concept of death; they only knew how to attack. Such enemies were the most terrifying.
What pained Gasol the most was that the two aerial scouts he had raised had been attacked and captured by other magical beasts. This was the most heart-wrenching matter for him.
As Wells had mentioned, a significant portion of Gasol's military achievements was attributed to these two aerial scouts. With them, he could discover enemy movements ahead of time and make arrangements, giving him a natural advantage in battle.
But today, right before his eyes, his two aerial scouts were attacked by five flying magical beasts. He watched helplessly as the two blazing birds he had painstakingly raised were captured by the red eagle-shaped magical beasts.
Thinking of this, Gasol couldn't help but furrow his brows once more. He felt as though everything he did recently was going wrong; apart from becoming clan leader, everything else was not as he had envisioned.
Before becoming clan leader, he had not many matters to deal with, mostly military affairs, while other issues were handled by his father. However, after taking on the role, he realized that managing a tribe was far from easy.
With winter approaching, preparations needed to be made for the grass for the sheep, grain for the people, and firewood for warmth. All these matters made Gasol's head ache.
The leaders in the clan also began to obey his orders superficially. Although the Bullfighting Tribe was still cooperating with him, they were no longer as polite as before. Additionally, the fact that Wells and Mendez were still at large remained a significant worry for him.
Though there were many issues to address, Gasol believed that the greatest threat to him was still Wells. Wells held a high popularity within the tribe, respected by the elders and various leaders. He worked discreetly, yet everything he did was executed excellently. Most importantly, his father had passed the Divine Bull Whip to Wells.
The Divine Bull Whip was traditionally passed from clan leader to their chosen heir. This meant that when his father transferred the whip to Wells, it signified to the elders and leaders that his father recognized Wells as the heir.
For this reason, those who had been involved in poisoning his father and claimed his father wanted him to become clan leader were not entirely convinced.
To make them quickly accept him as clan leader, he could only eliminate Wells and Mendez in the shortest time possible. Only then would the elders and leaders be forced to recognize his position.
