Chapter 222: Become My Slave
Maru was very happy with this meal, and he even discovered something astonishing: the meat dishes on the table were all like high-grade magical beast meat, with a high content of magical elements.
Maru was a mage, and he was particularly sensitive to magical elements. Added to that, the items Zhao Hai prepared were all produced from the space, even the beef, which was from a common meat cow on the continent called Mighty Bull.
Mighty Bulls were a very peculiar magical beast, hairless with thick skin and a lot of meat, and they were quite strong. This type of cow could be used for plowing as well as for meat. Laura had also raised a few Mighty Bulls, but not for plowing; she raised them purely for meat.
Previously, Laura kept quite a few wind falcons, which were carnivorous, and later raised several flying eagles, which also had a large appetite. To provide meat for the wind falcons and flying eagles, she always raised a few Mighty Bulls, which were later brought into the space by Zhao Hai.
The Mighty Bulls in the space were not very high in level, only level four, as determined by the space. On the Ark Continent, their level was only one. Animals in the space could reach levels above fifty, while the highest magical beasts on the Ark Continent were only level nine. Level ten beasts were like gods, only existing in legends, so the assessment of a magical beast’s level inside and outside the space was different.
Zhao Hai raised Mighty Bulls mainly for meat. Once accustomed to the meat produced in the space, eating meat from outside always felt off. Therefore, the food they ate now was all produced from the space.
Items produced from the space were bound to be high quality; with good ingredients, the resulting dishes naturally had better flavors. Plus, when combined with Earth cooking methods, it made for a feast that opened Maru's appetite.
After dinner, everyone went to the living room where Ni'er and Meg served them Kaya. Zhao Hai took a sip, glanced at Maru, and smiled, “Do you find the food tonight delicious, sir?”
Maru smiled in response, “Delicious, very delicious! This must be the famous peach blossom spring product from the continent, right? Truly extraordinary. I didn’t expect Mr. Zhao Hai to have such good things; no wonder Boric and the others are coveting it.”
Zhao Hai smiled slightly, “Yes, good things are always sought after.”
Just then, Zhao Hai's expression suddenly shifted. He turned to Maru with a smile and said, “I didn’t expect that right after dinner, the show would begin. How interesting.”
Upon hearing Zhao Hai, Maru understood that a good show was about to unfold, and he chuckled, “Perfect! After dinner, we can enjoy a show. Hehe, I hope it’s exciting.”
Zhao Hai smiled faintly and turned to Laura, “Open the door, the performers are on stage. We, the audience, must not be rude.”
Laura smiled slightly and nodded, while Ni'er and Meg ran over to open the doors and windows of the living room.
Maru then noticed that, he didn’t know when, the entire courtyard was already filled with undead beings. These undead beings were dressed as warriors and mages, standing rigidly in the courtyard like statues.
Moreover, the entire courtyard was shrouded in a layer of black mist, making it impossible to see the outside situation. However, faint footsteps could be heard from outside, indicating there were quite a few of them.
Maru looked at Zhao Hai in surprise. These undead beings were clearly released by Zhao Hai, but Zhao Hai had been with him the whole time, and he hadn’t noticed how Zhao Hai had released them without any sound or magic fluctuations. This truly astonished him.
Many dark mages learn methods to conceal magical fluctuations. After mastering these methods, using low-level magic becomes hard for even a mage to detect any magical energy. It is an effective way to launch surprise attacks.
However, this method can only be used when a mage is completely unwary. If a mage is already on guard, attempting to use this method becomes challenging.
