Chapter 22: Maturity

Zhao Hai frowned and said, "Is there going to be any danger? Grandma Merlin, if there is any danger, then let's not raise fish for now. After all, no matter how important raising fish is, it can't compare to your safety."

Merlin looked a bit excited but still smiled and replied, "Young master, don't worry, it will be fine. After all, I am an eighth-level water mage, dealing with a magical beast is not a problem at all."

Seeing the confidence in Merlin’s expression, Zhao Hai nodded and said, "Alright then. But this matter can be postponed. Tomorrow, we need to organize people to properly check the nearby land to see where we can improve the soil. It’s essential to improve the land first."

Merlin also nodded. Although commerce was very developed on Ark Continent, the Budah family did not place much importance on it. They were nobles, and in their eyes, land was key.

Meg and the others did not interrupt. When Zhao Hai and Merlin were discussing matters, Meg generally kept quiet. As for Wood and Stone, they were not very smart; they just did whatever they were told. Asking them for opinions would be like playing music to a cow. Though Meg was quite intelligent, she was still too young and did not live in an era of information explosion like Zhao Hai. Hence, there was much she still needed to learn, and she truly had nothing to add to the conversation.

Zhao Hai quickly finished his dinner and sat in the living room drinking Kaya for a while before returning to his room. There wasn't much to do in the castle; once arrangements were made, there was no need to worry too much.

There were not many recreational places here, completely isolated from the world. At night, aside from sleeping, there was really nothing else to do. Zhao Hai returned to his room, eager to check on the situation in the spatial farm.

Now, every night, Zhao Hai felt extremely bored. Back on Earth, he was quite the homebody, and homebodies typically stayed up late. During these few hectic days since arriving here, he had managed to fall asleep at night. However, today, he had taken a nap during the day and couldn’t sleep at night, so he naturally wanted to check on the spatial farm.

The spatial farm looked the same, but the corn seedlings had grown, and the radish sprouts had also emerged. Thankfully, there were no pests. Seeing those thriving seedlings made Zhao Hai feel a bit excited.

These seedlings represented hope, the hope for him to survive in this foreign world. Zhao Hai didn’t have grand ambitions; he just wanted to live well in this world.

Back on Earth, he was just a homebody living off meager manuscript fees. He didn’t have any ambitions and just wanted to live his little life.

Now that he was in this different world, he had acquired Adam's body and understood Adam's background, knowing that Adam had a deep-seated grudge. However, Zhao Hai also knew that it would not be easy to exact revenge, as they were up against an empire.

In the past, when the Budah family was at its peak, they had been reduced to their current state. With their current strength, it would be a miracle to just survive, let alone seek revenge.

Although he had the spatial farm as a cheat, it had a significant drawback: it lacked offensive capability.

The spatial farm was great for growing vegetables and storing things, but it didn’t provide any means of attack. On Ark Continent, the true strongmen excelled at combat. A mage like Merlin could instantaneously use magic to kill a thousand people. Compared to Merlin, Zhao Hai was nothing but a newborn infant, merely an ant. If Merlin wanted to crush him, it would be as easy as lifting a finger.

Because of this, Zhao Hai focused on acting low-key. If the old noble families discovered his capabilities, they would likely kill him immediately.

Fortunately, Zhao Hai had fully absorbed Adam's memories. Although Adam was a good-for-nothing, he still understood some common knowledge of the continent. Zhao Hai was not foolish enough to think he was invincible just because he had transmigrated. He knew that if he dared to act too ostentatiously, he would be the first to die.
