Chapter 20: Experiment

Looking at the two acres of land being sown bit by bit, Zhao Hai couldn't help but sigh. Now he finally understood what it meant to sow hope; what he was planting was indeed hope.

If the corn really had the effect he imagined, he wouldn't have to worry about the development of his territory anymore. But the results wouldn't be evident for several hours.

The two acres were quickly planted, but Zhao Hai didn't leave the space. Instead, he carefully observed the radishes, still unsure of how long it would take for them to mature.

As he thought about this, Zhao Hai had a sudden inspiration and patted his head, saying, "Right, I can ask the space! I remember there was a reminder function while playing farm games. Space, how long until the radishes mature?"

The space's prompt sounded: "Three minutes until the radishes officially mature." There were no extra words.

Zhao Hai nodded and murmured, "Three minutes, that's good. After three minutes, I can harvest the radishes. Oh right, after harvesting, I still need to plant more. I need to buy a bag of radish seeds."

Thinking of this, Zhao Hai immediately spent one hundred and fifty gold coins to buy a bag of radish seeds, leaving him with only three hundred and fifty gold coins.

However, Zhao Hai didn't mind. He had already adjusted his development strategy. He didn't want to develop too quickly in the Black Earth Wilderness. Firstly, he didn't have the conditions for it, and secondly, if he developed too quickly, it would definitely attract attention, and they would be finished.

So now, his focus should be on the space.

As long as the space's level increased, his entire development wouldn't be a problem. The space was his foundation. He also didn't plan to harvest too many radishes, just like he said at the beginning. If he harvested too many at once, the value of the radishes would plummet, and he would end up losing.

Unfortunately, he didn't have a mobile phone to share these thoughts with Galen. He just hoped that this time Galen wouldn't take on too large an order.

Zhao Hai had always tried not to rely too much on the space because its existence felt too abstract to him. He didn't know when it might disappear. However, if the space vanished and he hadn’t built any career outside, they would all be doomed.

But now it seemed he had no choice but to rely on the space. If the space upgraded, he could acquire more resources, allowing his territory to develop better.

However, he still couldn't relax when it came to transforming the land outside the space. If he couldn't improve the land outside, one day when the space truly disappeared, he would end up with nothing.

Now, every step he took had to be calculated carefully, balancing the development of the space with improving the living conditions outside.

Upgrading the space required money, and Zhao Hai was very aware that his space had just leveled up once. Each subsequent upgrade would require more funds. When Zhao Hai played farm games, he had two accounts. One was his original account with over four hundred online friends, where he could steal crops freely, accumulating so much money that he eventually lost interest.

His second account was a new one, with no friends added; it was just for him. He created this account mainly to see what would happen if he played the farm game alone.

He learned that the consequences were quite serious. At the beginning, it was manageable, but once the farm leveled up to over twenty, he opened a ranch, and that was it. His game coins were insufficient. He upgraded the farm's land but couldn't afford to upgrade the ranch, and without ranch upgrades, he couldn't upgrade the farm. This situation forced Zhao Hai to become more calculating, carefully accounting for the income from both the farm and the ranch, figuring out which animals were the most cost-effective to raise, and gradually playing the online single-player game.

His situation on the second account was similar to his current situation; both required gradual upgrades. He had some experience, but he must not forget that he still needed to use the things from the space to improve his territory. This made his finances even tighter, so he had to be cautious with every step.
