Chapter 175: Oroja

Laura frowned and said, "I had expected this result, but I didn't think it would come so soon. Just as we had a bit of progress here, they arrived. I think it's better to inform the young master about this situation."

Kun Zheng nodded and replied, "This situation should be reported to the young master, but I think we should wait and see what Oroja has to say and do before we inform him. After all, we can't bother the young master with every little thing."

Laura nodded, then sighed and said, "It’s only been two days of peace, and now trouble is back. Those people at home are really something. We haven't even expanded our business; aside from here in the Versailles Principality, we've only opened one or two shops in the big cities. It shouldn't affect their business, yet I didn't expect they would still have us in their thoughts."

Kun Zheng sighed, "Who can blame them? The products from peach blossom spring are so attractive. Even though we have limited stock outside the Versailles Principality, the popularity of peach blossom spring products is well-known. They understand what having such a product means for a store, so they come rushing here."

Laura snorted coldly, "Now they remember us? What were they doing before? Besides, peach blossom spring products aren't just up to us. Even if we agree, it has to pass the young master's approval first. Hmph, I want to see what those guys are planning."

Klein had been listening to their conversation. He wasn't interested in these matters, but he loved Laura, and hearing that the visitors might be after her business made him somewhat angry.

Klein was indeed a good-natured person, but how could he tolerate someone trying to meddle with his daughter? Even though he didn't manage affairs, he knew that everything in the Versailles Principality was built piece by piece by Laura and represented her hard work. To touch those things was to touch Laura. Klein would never allow that to happen.

Klein maintained a serious face and said, "Laura, if anything happens, don’t forget to tell me. Although I don't understand business, after so many years, I’ve made some mage friends who might be able to help a bit."

Klein's words surprised Laura. He usually didn’t involve himself in such matters; it was unusual for him to say this today, and Laura felt a bit unaccustomed. However, she replied, "It's fine, Dad. You don’t have to worry about my matters. If anything really happens, I will let you know."

Klein nodded, stood up, and turned to leave. Laura didn’t stop him. She hadn’t considered that Klein could help her with anything. Although Klein knew some mages over the years, he also knew quite a few alchemists and pharmacists. In the eyes of ordinary people, those alchemists and pharmacists were seen as a bunch of crazies researching all sorts of bizarre things, some of whom lived difficult lives and needed Klein to occasionally support them.

While this could be considered a network, it was pretty useless. The empire didn't value these people much. Only someone like Klein would associate with such eccentric individuals, and in the eyes of others, Klein was also regarded as a bit crazy.

Laura watched Klein's back and sighed, "Grandpa Kun Zheng, my dad seems a bit off today?"

Kun Zheng smiled, "It's nothing. He's just a bit sad, feeling like he can't help you. No father wants to see their child in trouble. Let's not talk about that. Let's discuss Oroja's arrival. If he really asks for peach blossom spring products, what should we do?"

Laura snorted, "No way. Am I supposed to give it to him just because he asks? Hmph, our industry here in the Versailles Principality has been built through our own hard work, so we shouldn't be afraid of them."

Kun Zheng laughed, "I'm not afraid of them; they can't take the peach blossom spring products away. But you know what those people at home are like. If we refuse, they might resort to some means. We should prepare in advance."

Laura nodded, her eyes gleaming coldly, "If they don’t pull any tricks, that’s fine. But if they dare to act sneaky, I’ll teach them a lesson and see if they dare to cause any more trouble."
