Chapter 169: Siege of the Demigod

At this moment, several giant rocks were hurled towards Buffy as the stone giants made their move.

Buffy naturally noticed this situation. He whispered a few incantations, and the wind elements around him began to swirl wildly. His figure became as unsteady as a leaf in the wind.

Every mage has a different combat style. For example, earth mages often cast protective spells on themselves during battle because their defensive capabilities are the strongest among all mages, although their attack speed is not very fast.

Water mages typically rotate their shields. While water magic is not particularly defensive and has average offensive capabilities, it has various forms. Eventually, people discovered that a rotating water magic shield had stronger defensive capabilities than a stationary one, leading to water shields resembling whirlpools.

Fire mages generally focus on offense because fire magic possesses a destructive power stronger than other elemental magics.

Wind mages, being the lightest among the four elemental mages, tend to use a wind magic spell to lighten their bodies, making it easier to dodge attacks.

The combat styles of each type of mage are directly or indirectly tied to their magical attributes. As John, the most famous demigod-level mage on the continent, once said, every type of magic requires mages to dedicate their lives to research.

John was no ordinary person; he was the first magical genius on the continent over a thousand years ago. This doesn’t mean he had exceptional talent; on the contrary, he was quite poor in talent. Generally, children can begin formal magic training at twelve years old, and some can even start under ten.

However, John didn't learn meditation until he was sixteen. Despite this, he was later called a magic mentor. Throughout his life, he took on 120 disciples, all of whom eventually became experts above level eight, with twenty of them achieving ninth-level status.

Such an educational ability had never been seen before, nor will it be seen again. Because of this, John has always been recognized as a mentor by all mages on the continent, and his first words are studied earnestly.

His famous saying that every type of magic requires a mage to dedicate their life to research is particularly renowned because his disciples achieved remarkable success due to this principle.

Buffy, being a wind mage, had no fault in using this method to fight. However, he suddenly realized something was wrong.

Who is Buffy? A ninth-level expert and a demigod, he is among the top beings on the continent. Would he really use the fighting methods of a wind mage against opponents of the same level? Impossible. A ninth-level expert wields overwhelming power with a mere gesture; would he adopt a wind mage's combat style just to evade a few stone giants' attacks? No one would believe it.

The only explanation for his actions was that he was severely injured and could not fully utilize the strength of a ninth-level mage, thus resorting to this method of combat.

Once Galen realized this, he felt at ease. He dodged several wind blades' attacks and suddenly a water dragon appeared, crashing into the wind blades with a loud boom that caused both to vanish in the air.

Two powerful arrows shot towards Buffy, accompanied by a gigantic light sword about five meters long that descended from the sky, aimed straight at Buffy's head. Meg and the others had made their move.

Buffy, a ninth-level expert, was no pushover. He swiftly dodged a few giant rocks and waved his hand, summoning a layer of blue shield above his head. This shield did not protect his entire body but was just enough to block the light sword overhead. Then, two wind blades deflected the arrows shot by Meg and Wood. At the same time, a whirlwind enveloped him completely, stirring up a cloud of dust that obscured his figure.

At that moment, Merlin quietly chanted a few incantations. Several water dragons appeared outside the whirlwind, wrapping around it like iron chains.
