CHAPTER 134: Journey to Ika
Galen and the others looked at Zhao Hai, who was beaming with excitement, not understanding what he meant. They were only familiar with some of the normal abilities of the space and were unaware of its several destructive skills, such as releasing bugs, weeds, and mosquitoes.
Zhao Hai was also on the verge of forgetting these abilities because he had never intended to use them. When these features were designed in the game, he rarely made use of them; they were merely for amusement.
Since arriving on the Ark Continent, Zhao Hai had been focused on developing his territory, leaving him no mood to unleash bugs. Therefore, he had not paid attention to these functions.
Just now, Meg mentioned wanting to create trouble for the Versailles Family, saying it could only be done through natural disasters. This immediately made Zhao Hai think of the function of releasing bugs.
A pest plague can be considered a natural disaster for a country’s agricultural production, and it is quite a significant one. The most notorious example is locusts; people often use the term "locusts crossing" to describe a place being completely devastated.
The bugs Zhao Hai planned to release weren’t locusts but rather those giant meat worms from the game. These worms could severely damage crops that hadn't fully matured.
Zhao Hai intended to unleash these worms to destroy the crops in the Ika Plain. Once the crops there were ruined, he wouldn’t have to worry about the Versailles Family having anything to do.
Moreover, they would be using bugs as a method, making it look as though there was a pest disaster, so no one would suspect it was man-made.
Seeing the confused expressions on Galen and the others, Zhao Hai smiled slightly and said, “Grandpa Galen, Grandma Merlin, you’ve gained some understanding of the space, but you still don’t know several of its functions. I thought these functions were useless and hadn’t mentioned them to you. Haha, it seems these functions are quite useful after all.”
Galen looked at Zhao Hai with confusion and asked, “What functions? Young master, are they related to creating pest disasters?”
Zhao Hai smiled slightly and replied, “Yes, they are closely related. There are three functions we can use now: one is the pest release function, another is the weed release function, and the last one is the mosquito release function. The pest release function is very simple; it involves releasing pests into the crops. These pests cause significant damage to the crops. The weed release function is similar; it releases weeds that compete with crops for nutrients, leading to reduced yields. The mosquito release function isn’t applicable at the moment; it involves releasing a large number of mosquitoes.”
There are mosquitoes on the Ark Continent as well, and they can be quite bothersome. Zhao Hai directly referred to them as mosquitoes, and Galen and the others understood what he meant.
Upon hearing this, Galen and the others grasped Zhao Hai's intention. Their eyes lit up, and Galen exclaimed, “Young master, is what you said true? Are you suggesting that the space can release bugs to eat up those crops?”
Zhao Hai nodded and smiled, “Yes, it can! And unlike improving land, which has daily limitations, releasing bugs has no restrictions.”
Galen was overjoyed, standing up excitedly, “That’s great! As long as we have this ability, we can act immediately. Oh, young master, let’s hurry back to Rubble Mountain and then head to the Ika Plain. Once we release the bugs, we can go to the Versailles Family and call off the engagement.”
Zhao Hai nodded, “There’s no need to rush. It’s not a short distance from the Black Earth Wilderness to Black Mountain Pass. Even if they have just entered the Black Earth Wilderness and learned of the news, it will take them some time to return. We have enough time.”
Galen calmed down and nodded, “Right, we do have enough time. It takes a while to get from the Black Earth Wilderness to Black Mountain Pass. It won’t take us as long to travel from Casa City to the Ika Plain. However, once we return to Rubble Mountain, we need to arrange things there. I think we shouldn’t take too many people this time; having too many would complicate matters. What do you think, young master?”
