Chapter 126: Amazing

Julie was just a commoner in Casa City. Born into poverty, she never attended school as a child. Later, she married a carpenter, and their life gradually improved.

Although her husband wasn't educated, he was a skilled carpenter and was known somewhat in Casa City. Now, they had two children and their life was quite decent. Occasionally, Julie would buy some magical vegetables to improve their diet.

Her home wasn't far from the Blood Lotus Shop, where she usually shopped because it had a good reputation and affordable prices.

Today, Julie went to the Blood Lotus Shop again because her husband had just completed a business deal, earning them five gold coins. Julie decided to buy some magic radishes to bring home.

One reason Julie bought magic radishes was that their two children were currently attending a magic academy in the eastern district of Casa City and were performing well in their studies.

According to the teachers, students who regularly consumed magical vegetables were more likely to become mages, which greatly benefited the children's development.

What parent wouldn't want their child to succeed? So, Julie and her husband made sacrifices to ensure their children had at least one meal of magical vegetables each week. For an ordinary family, that was already a considerable effort.

As soon as she entered the Blood Lotus Shop, Julie was taken aback. She saw a pile of magic radishes in the vegetable section. She recognized them and often consumed them, as they were the only magical vegetable affordable for her family.

The reason Julie was stunned was that these magic radishes looked different from the ones she had seen before. The ones she had seen previously varied in shape and size, but these radishes were all plump, white, round, and straight, making them irresistible to bite into at first glance.

Julie quickly walked over, and a staff member approached her with a smile, saying, “Hello, these are our newly arrived magic radishes with exceptional quality, the only ones on the continent.”

Julie hesitated at the thought of spending money on such large magic radishes. She wanted a smaller one, but each radish appeared to weigh at least two to three pounds. That meant they would cost two to three silver coins, and honestly, she was a little reluctant to part with that money.

However, after hearing what the staff member said, Julie felt a bit embarrassed and picked up one of the magic radishes, saying, “Then I’ll take one to try.”

The staff member quickly weighed it for her; it was just over three pounds. She charged Julie for three pounds, and after paying, Julie took the magic radish home.

At lunch, Julie made soup using half of the magic radish. During this time, her husband had been working very hard, and their elder son, Rui Luo, had turned twelve today, officially starting to learn magic. The earlier he could meditate and sense magical energy, the greater his future achievements would be. This was why Julie and her husband insisted on providing their children with magical vegetables at least once a week.

Lunch was simple, consisting of flatbread and magic radish soup, which was already a good life. Many commoners in Casa City could only afford two meals a day, usually made from bamboo rice.

When Julie's husband, Roel, saw the magic radish soup on the table, he paused for a moment and looked at Julie, saying, “Why did you make magic radish soup today? Save some for Rui Luo.”

Julie smiled and replied, “I bought a large magic radish from the Blood Lotus Shop today; it’s enough for several meals. They said it's the best magic radish on the continent, so I thought I’d let us try it. You've been tired lately, and you need to recuperate.”

Roel didn’t say anything further, sitting down to eat. Rui Luo and their younger son, Ross, also sat down and lifted their bowls to sip the soup.

After just one sip, Rui Luo was taken aback and turned to Julie, saying, “Mom, this soup tastes really good.” Ross nodded in agreement.
