CHAPTER 111: War Slave
Zhao Hai's eyes sparkled with excitement as he said, "This is something we can experiment with. By the way, Grandpa Galen, do you think those undead beings can do this too?"
Galen's eyes lit up when he heard Zhao Hai's words. He nodded and replied, "Young master, let's head to Iron Mountain Fortress right away. There are some magical beasts left there; let's see if it works."
Zhao Hai nodded in agreement. With a thought, he followed Galen and Meg to the farm, then used the teleportation point to enter the living room of Iron Mountain Fortress.
Merlin was not in the living room; it was just her, along with Wood and Stone, who were busy taking care of things. There were many tasks to attend to at Iron Mountain Fortress, including planting alfalfa on the mountain and also nut oil trees. They had long planned to plant nut oil trees on the mountain, and now they could take this opportunity to do so.
The alfalfa on the mountain was nearly fully grown. Zhao Hai and the others didn't plan to harvest it. Instead, they let it grow naturally until it died, then turned the soil to turn the alfalfa into fertilizer. After several cycles of this, the soil quality would naturally improve. Although they could achieve a similar effect by leaving the alfalfa roots, it wasn't as effective as leaving the whole plant. Since Zhao Hai didn't need fodder at the moment, he decided not to harvest any of it.
The nut oil trees they planted on the mountain were quite rare. The seeds for these nut oil trees had been modified in the space, so they had few drawbacks; otherwise, nut oil trees were susceptible to pest infestations.
However, Galen and the others were not worried about pest infestations for another reason: Zhao Hai had insecticides in his space. They knew about this because, initially, the space used the poisons from the unique forms to modify the insecticides, making them potent enough to kill.
Meanwhile, some men were repairing the castle and making some useful items. When the castle was disorganized, it was hard to see the issues, but once organized, they discovered many areas needed repairs, which was a significant workload.
Fortunately, many undead beings were helping out. For heavy items that some people couldn't lift, the undead beings could handle them.
To address this situation, Zhao Hai had specifically left a hundred humanoid undead beings at the castle, taking only the remaining two hundred humanoid undead beings to Green Stone Manor.
Now at the castle, aside from the slaves like An, there were only those hundred humanoid undead beings and a few dozen beast-type undead beings. The remaining four hundred beast-type undead beings were wandering around the castle to prevent anyone from sneaking in.
As soon as Zhao Hai exited the living room, he sent a message to the undead beings, summoning them to wait outside the castle for him.
The three of them rushed out of the castle and found An and the others working on a section of the castle wall. As soon as An and the others saw Zhao Hai and the others, they immediately greeted them, and the three simply nodded before quickly heading outside the castle.
Once they reached outside, a group of undead beings came running towards them; it was the four hundred plus that patrolled the castle's perimeter.
These undead beings quickly arrived in front of Zhao Hai, standing in formation to look at him. Zhao Hai didn't waste words; he waved the Evil Spirit Staff and said in a deep voice, "Formation."
The undead beings immediately arranged themselves into a square formation, perfectly aligned and orderly. Zhao Hai nodded in approval and waved his hand again, commanding, "Move!" The formation began to shift slowly, but the arrangement remained intact, as if it had been cut with a knife.
As Zhao Hai directed them, their speed gradually increased while the formation stayed solid, remaining square-shaped without a single one moving faster or slower than the others.
Zhao Hai, Galen, and the others watched this in excitement. For them, it was truly an unexpected gain. These undead beings could indeed march in formation, and the formation wouldn’t break. This was incredibly important for them. Just imagining how powerful a cavalry unit could be based on these undead beings thrilled them.
