CHAPTER 103: I’ll Swat You to Death

In the blink of an eye, three high-level warriors died in battle. If Zhao Qian hadn't appeared, these three warriors wouldn't have fallen so easily. While a single assassin couldn't change the course of a war, if used effectively, an assassin could alter the outcome of a battle.

With the deaths of those three high-level warriors, the remaining fighters all gathered around Jialan and the others. Jialan's already grim expression grew even darker. They understood that escaping today was nearly impossible; surrounded by over a thousand undead beings, they had no confidence in making it out alive.

Jialan watched as the undead beings slowly congregated, a glint of cold light flashing in his eyes as he said, "Jialan requests an audience with Mr. Zhao Hai."

As soon as he spoke, Galen and the others momentarily halted their attack, unsure of how to respond. However, Zhao Hai, in the space, noticed Jialan's cold gaze, sensing that he had ill intentions. He quickly issued a command in his mind for Zhao Qi to impersonate him and meet Jialan.

At the same time, Zhao Hai ordered Zhao Qian to hand the Evil Spirit Wand over to Zhao Qi. It was known that Zhao Qi, being an undead being, couldn't speak; he communicated through mental links. This meant that if Jialan encountered him, he would immediately see through the ruse. However, if Zhao Hai held the Evil Spirit Wand, he could speak through it without Jialan hearing him. Moreover, since Jialan had never seen Zhao Hai, and Zhao Qi and the others were currently wearing dark magic robes, Jialan wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

This was just a matter of Zhao Hai shifting his thoughts a couple of times. He chose Zhao Qi specifically because Zhao Qi and Zhao Lian had just cleared the outer dead warriors, so Jialan had never seen Zhao Qi before, which meant he was unlikely to raise any suspicions.

Under the cover of the undead beings, Zhao Qian stealthily handed the Evil Spirit Wand to Zhao Qi. After grabbing the wand, Zhao Qi immediately mounted one of the undead beings. This undead being was not a mutant; Zhao Hai had left the mutants very close to Jialan, waiting for them to unleash a powerful psychic magic attack.

He had not found an opportunity before, as the psychic magic attack of the mutants was not very strong. It was suitable for ambushes, but in a direct confrontation, he wouldn't stand a chance against Jialan, an eighth-level grand mage.

Zhao Qi stood about thirty meters away from Jialan, a relatively safe distance. Ordinary magic couldn't target such long distances, and even if the opponent used stone giants to hurl stones at him, Zhao Qi would have enough time to dodge.

As soon as Zhao Qi mounted the undead being, Galen and the others were taken aback. They had spent a lot of time with Zhao Hai and naturally recognized that this figure was not Zhao Hai. However, Zhao Qi and the others had similar builds, so Galen couldn't distinguish which one it was.

Despite not being able to tell them apart, Galen strongly approved of Zhao Hai's approach. With his life experience, he could see that Jialan's invitation was not sincere. He had initially wanted to warn Zhao Hai, but then thought that such a warning might alert Jialan, so he focused intently on him. As soon as Jialan made any suspicious movements, he would launch an attack immediately.

However, upon seeing Zhao Qi, he felt reassured. Zhao Hai's decision to have Zhao Qi impersonate him ensured his own safety. For Galen and the others, sacrificing Zhao Qi wasn't a problem; as long as Zhao Hai was safe, everything else could be negotiated.

Once Zhao Qi had settled, Zhao Hai's voice came through, "May I ask what brings you, Mr. Jialan? Are you looking to have a heartfelt conversation with me?"

Zhao Hai's words were sharply sarcastic, and Jialan's face turned a shade of iron. He was a gifted individual who had been clever since childhood; otherwise, he wouldn't have become an eighth-level light mage at such a young age. Because he was a genius, everyone had always indulged him and treated him with utmost care, never daring to speak harshly to him. He had never faced such humiliation before.
