Betrothed to My Sister's Ex

Chapter 8: Is he a scary person...? 😨

Published: July 28, 2025

“Nice to meet you, Count Granado!”

My father stepped forward quickly and bowed before the count. He grabbed my arm and forced me to bow my head as well.

“Due to an unfortunate accident, the engagement between our eldest daughter Anastasia and you has unfortunately fallen through. Both sides are very disappointed. I am sure, Count, that you are also heartbroken. Therefore, we have brought here Marie, Anastasia’s younger sister who shares the same blood.”

It seemed the count wasn’t really listening to my father’s formal words. Instead, he looked at me as if dazed, his gaze looking downwards.

“Marie... you are Marie? So you are the sister Anastasia mentioned?”

I nodded in response to his question.

“Yes. I am Marie.”

Count Granado gasped. He furrowed his brows and fell silent—

Then suddenly, he glared fiercely at my father.

An intense glare! His mysterious green eyes were so sharp they felt almost ominous, like an arrow piercing the heart. My father, I, and even the gatekeeper all jumped. It was terrifying.

Now that I think about it, Anastasia had told me before... Count Granado is very strict and feared by the servants.

However, Mio, the Chief Lady-in-Waiting, remained expressionless as usual. She tugged lightly at the master’s cloak and whispered in a cool tone.

“Master, your face is looking quite frightening.”

“Huh? I- Is that so?”

“Lady Marie is even scared. Please control yourself.”

“Hmph. Y- Yes…”

“You really need to do something about those naturally sharp eyes.”

“Don’t demand the impossible.”

“Also, if I may be so bold, Lord Chadelan has just lost his precious eldest daughter. He is desperately trying to protect the family as the head of the household. We should be considerate of that.”

“...Hmph...”

“And the gatekeeper Thomas has done nothing wrong. It’s unfair to shout at him like that.”

“Uh…”

Admonished by Mio, the count quickly became quiet. He looked down, lost in thought for a long moment, then glanced around at us before finally turning back to the gatekeeper.

“I’m sorry, Thomas. I took my anger out on you unfairly.”

Then he abruptly turned his back.

“I’ve shown you an unbecoming side. Please make yourself comfortable in this castle tonight.”

With that, he left. Mio said she would prepare a room for me immediately.

Even my father didn’t dare to suggest that his daughter stay in the count’s bedroom.
