Betrothed to My Sister's Ex

Chapter 54: I Felt Like I Heard a Voice 📢

Published: July 31, 2025

The next outfit Lord Cyrus wore was a pure white long robe. This was formal wear from the Central Continent. It had a feminine grace, and even though it covered almost everything, it somehow looked alluring. It suited Lord Cyrus’s tall frame so perfectly that I was left speechless, gazing at him absentmindedly.

Then came the third outfit. This time, he wore a strange-looking jacket layered multiple times, and I couldn’t tell which country it was from. It must have been the uniform of some high-ranking profession. It made Lord Cyrus’s sharp features stand out even more.

The fourth outfit was a complete change—extremely casual. His upper body was almost bare, wearing only a vest in a token manner and loose white harem pants, with his black hair tied up in a turban. It looked like it was made just for Lord Cyrus. His exposed brown skin was dazzling.

The fifth outfit… unfortunately, this one made me chuckle a little. It was probably a school uniform from a neighboring country like Flaria. A blazer with a tie and leather loafers. It looked terribly out of place on him, but because I was so delighted, Lord Cyrus ended up saying he would buy it too.

“Eh—when and where do you plan to wear this?”

Even when I tried to stop him, he remained unfazed.

“To make you laugh when you’re feeling down.”

With this kind of attitude, Lord Cyrus kept trying on outfit after outfit and decided to purchase most of them. Watching him made me restless, and together with Naji Lu, I looked around the entire store, offering this and that to Lord Cyrus.

“How’s this, Marie? Does it look good?”

“It looks great!”

I cheered for him as he came out of the fitting room, clapping, laughing, and admiring him. I began to understand why Tunic and Ceri enjoyed playing dress-up with others so much—it was unexpectedly fun!

I lost count of how many outfits he tried, but the next one took quite some effort to put on, so Lord Cyrus took a while before coming out. Naji Lu was exasperated.

“How many outfits do you plan to buy, seriously? And why are you buying from us what your husband sells to us, at our selling price?”

“Money only circulates when it’s spent.”

“You’re just getting cocky because the young lady praised you.”

“Please keep those truths to yourself where Marie can’t hear.”

Ahahaha, please stop doing a comedy act behind the curtain!

While waiting for Lord Cyrus to change, I casually looked around the store.

There really were all kinds of clothes. From very luxurious tuxedos to leather-string accessories that looked like scraps of leather… earlier, I was surprised by the price of a robe, but not everything was the same price. Maybe there were cheaper items?

I quietly approached Naji Lu and whispered to her.

“How much are the cheaper items here… something that would suit Lord Cyrus?”

Naji Lu didn’t answer my question directly. Smiling kindly, she beckoned me to follow her outside the shop. On the street-facing shelves, various items were displayed—mostly small accessories for men.

“See, these here are cheap just to attract customers. Even you, young lady, could probably afford them.”

“Ah… thank you…”

I thanked her and picked up some earrings. Checking the price tag, it was indeed within what I could afford. Naji Lu went back inside, telling me to take my time. I took advantage of the opportunity to carefully examine the items.

A small stone pendant, gloves and scarves for warmth, leather string chokers, heavy metal bangles, cufflinks, natural stone rosaries, anklets…

Everything was new to me. Surely, they were all cheap mass-produced goods. Ordinary things that surely wouldn’t be anything special for Lord Cyrus.

Still…

He had asked for my preferences and changed accordingly. Every time I complimented, he looked very happy.

…So… maybe…

Suddenly, there was a loud noise behind me. When I turned around, more passersby had appeared. Almost all were men, streaming from the restaurant district, walking deeper into the area.
