Betrothed to My Sister's Ex

Chapter 185: The Servant of the Eastern Edge 🌅

Published: August 1, 2025

The last morning of our three-day, two-night stay in paradise.

Lord Cyrus and I woke up once again in the hammock.

Mr. Angelo and Ms. Kaede had returned last night to the beach resort hotel they had originally booked, but they let us be selfish and stay here because we preferred this over the hotel beds.

After all, the hammock bed is really great for waking up! When I stretch, the sway beneath my hips is so much fun.

“Lord Cyrus, I wonder if we could set up hammocks somewhere in Granado Castle—like in the garden or on the balcony.”

“Well, Dilz is a cold country, so they’d probably only get use during summer naps… But how about putting one in the bath area for some fresh air after bathing?”

“That’s wonderful! I love that idea!”

We high-fived in midair, then jumped down from the hammock.

After that, we went inside the inn for breakfast. There, we unexpectedly ran into someone.

“Ah, Mr. Angelo.”

When I called his name, he bowed politely. In his hands was a ceramic pot filled with piping hot food. His usual kimono was now paired with a white apron… It was clear he had been roped into helping with breakfast.

“Good morning. Please wait a moment; the morning meal will be ready soon.”

“What on earth are you doing? You could eat breakfast at your own hotel.”

“I did eat there. I’m just being bossed around by Tender Mama. Oh dear.”

…Mr. Angelo, even though you’ve already checked out from this inn… Maybe the people of Luhab aren’t simply easygoing—they might be relentless.

Though I think the people making him work are a bit harsh, he’s not exactly innocent either.

Lord Cyrus looked so bothered that he didn’t even bother to comment and just sat down quietly. I took my seat as well.

“This morning’s breakfast consists of cinnamon churros, pan con tomate, and sopa de ajo with raw ham. The sopa de ajo is usually made with plenty of garlic, but since it’s the start of the day, I toned the flavor down a bit.”

“Did you make all this, Mr. Angelo?”

Faced with the dishes being laid out one after another, we looked stunned. Mr. Angelo didn’t seem particularly proud, though.

“I am Kaede-sama’s retainer. Whatever Kaede-sama needs on this trip, I can do it.”

…He said that so casually, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

It reminded me of a certain woman at Granado Castle. Are all retainers this versatile and elusive?

I took a sip of the soup first.

“…It’s delicious.”

“…It really is,” murmured Lord Cyrus, somewhat bitterly.

Mr. Angelo smiled broadly.

“That’s good to hear. Please enjoy your meal. I’ve already made sure the children ate their fill first.”

We gratefully savored the Sphain-style breakfast.

Everything was truly delicious.

After the meal, we enjoyed some fruit for dessert. As I thought yesterday, Luhab Island’s fruit is abundant and exquisite. In recent years, fruit cultivation and export have become more prosperous than fishing. Subpar produce is practically given away and distributed to each household as children’s snacks.

Even the so-called “bad” fruit looks fine and tastes sweet and delicious. Just like fresh fish, expensive items in Dilz are casually eaten like potatoes here. Yet, milk is scarce, and it feels strange that no one has ever drunk raw milk.

“The world really is vast…”

“Marie, you say that all the time,” Lord Cyrus chuckled.

“But that’s how I feel. Lord Cyrus, too. You should be tired of hearing me say that, but you always look at me so happily.”

“I can’t help it. You’re cute, after all.”

He said that with a laugh again. Geez.

I puffed out my cheeks and stole a churro from Lord Cyrus’s plate. Turning my back to him as he cried out, “Ahh!”, I took a bite. Mmm, delicious. Lord Cyrus gripped his fork tightly and groaned in frustration.

“I saved that for last… I wanted to feed it to you, Marie…”

“I’m not doing that!”

“Come on, no one’s watching.”

“That’s not the point—and besides, Mr. Angelo is here.”
