Ascendance of a Bookworm

Chapter 478: Request from the Royal Family 👑

Published: September 6, 2025

“Did Brynhildr get in touch?”

I hadn’t even reported that I’d finished the civil official course exam yet, so I didn’t understand why I was being invited to a tea party. As I blinked in surprise, Brynhildr let out a light sigh.

“It seems the lecturers are already gossiping about how Lady Rosemine finished her lectures ahead of schedule.”

“…The teachers share information more thoroughly than I expected.”

“Lady Rosemine, as the initiator of several important joint research projects, is quite the center of attention among them.”

Apparently, everyone was eagerly waiting to see when and how the joint research would begin, and who would be involved. Naturally, this information flowed from the dorm supervisors affiliated with the central administration to the royal family, specifically to Eglantine.

“I think Lady Eglantine is hosting the book lovers’ tea party to gather everyone involved with the library together. It’s difficult to call both librarians at once unless it’s before the library usage increases, so she wants to hold it as soon as possible.”

Gathering library personnel likely means they want to discuss the change in administration to Hannelore. Though it’s styled as a tea party, it’s effectively a summons from the royal family.

“Where will it be held?”

“At Lady Eglantine’s detached palace. Since it’s hosted by royalty, they probably won’t use the library’s office, and considering the number of attendees, the library office wouldn’t be large enough.”

Brynhildr chuckled wryly and shared the expected participants.

“First, the librarians: Lady Solange and Lady Altansia. Then, the library committee members: Lady Rosemine, Lady Hannelore, Prince Hildebrandt, and finally, the hosts, Lady Eglantine and Prince Anastasius.”

With three royals present and their entourages, it’s definitely not feasible to have tea in the library office.

…There were plenty of people even when the managers for Schwarz and his group were changed.

“By the way, is Prince Anastasius also coming? I thought he was too busy to attend the noble academy, and that Prince Hildebrandt would represent him since he hasn’t enrolled yet?”

I couldn’t help but think Eglantine was being surrounded like a prized jewel by Avelibe, maybe because I still vividly recall crashing the music teachers’ tea party.

…They’re married, after all. They don’t have to cling so closely. They should just relax and be confident.

However, according to Professor Hilsure, Anastasius had given advice about joint research with Dunkelfelger, so it would be good to express thanks. I feel I should, though I can’t help but find it bothersome.

“Lady Hannelore is also invited, so I can’t just skip a royal-hosted tea party.”

She looked anxious when I explained the situation to Eglantine. I couldn’t leave Hannelore alone after the unexpected change caused by poor communication. Even so, I was reluctant about the royal summons, trying to keep my distance. Slumping my shoulders with a sigh, Brynhildr smiled softly.

“Please don’t look so gloomy, Lady Rosemine. Prince Anastasius has arranged for books to be lent from the Royal Palace Library for the book lovers’ tea party.”

…Books from the Royal Palace Library!? That’s amazing—I’m thrilled!

Clasping my hands tightly, I looked up at Brynhildr, confident this was my best smile today.

“Prince Anastasius truly lives up to being Lady Eglantine’s husband. He’s wonderful!”

“I’m glad Lady Rosemine feels positive about attending. Have you decided which books to prepare? I believe you’ve promised to lend some as well?”

“Probably my mother’s love story? Lady Eglantine showed interest in that.”

Even if it’s a summons from royalty, just the fact that there will be book lending raises my spirits. While Brynhildr was planning measures to avoid fainting from overexcitement at the royal tea, I began selecting books and the guard knights started discussing who would accompany me.
