After meeting with Gibe Haldenzel, I spent my time meeting with nobles selected by the high priest and Richarda during the Winter Social Season, gathering information at my mother's faction tea parties, and writing down remembered stories to create romance novels that my mother and her group would like.
Yesterday, Charlotte and I went to the children's room and talked with Moritz about the first-year studies. We discussed incorporating geography and history lessons into the winter children's room curriculum, and I handed over a reference book I compiled for this year's first-year students.
Because they had no opportunity to see maps or timelines, lower nobles struggled with these subjects, so I asked Moritz to teach them using materials. I believe that even a little prior knowledge makes attending lectures much easier.
“Princess Rosemine, there is an appointment request from Aub Ehrenfest for this afternoon,” Richarda informed me after breakfast. Same-day appointment requests were rare.
“That’s quite sudden.”
“Yes. Early this morning, young master Wilfried sent a report and wished to hear your opinion.”
I wondered if something had happened at the noble academy. After agreeing to the afternoon meeting, I began writing the next part of a romance novel I thought my mother would enjoy.
In the afternoon, after lunch, I headed to my foster father’s office, where the high priest was already reading what seemed to be a wooden tag report.
“Has a report arrived from Brother Wilfried?”
“Yes. More than a report, it’s a petition asking for Rosemine to return.”
My foster father handed me the report after the high priest finished reading. Most of the Ehrenfest students had completed their lectures, and the noble academy was now fully immersed in the social season.
There were many inquiries about trends, and invitations to tea parties had nearly doubled compared to last year. Women seemed particularly interested in hair ornaments and Rinshan, and Wilfried and his attendants felt quite uncomfortable surrounded by so many women at these tea parties.
“If the tea parties are mostly attended by women, why not send Brynhildr or Liselotte instead of Brother Wilfried?”
“If the invitations addressed to the lord candidates were intended for you, Wilfried has no choice but to attend.”
“I see. Brother Wilfried has a tough time.”
Since most tea party invitations went to women, if I stayed at the noble academy, I’d be the one constantly invited. The order to return to Ehrenfest might have been a relief. Wilfried seemed to be bearing the brunt of it, but he had to manage.
“This report concerns Ditter,” the high priest said, passing me another wooden tag. It stated that Dunkelfelger had requested a rematch with Ditter, which was reluctantly accepted. However, without my unexpected strategy, and with Angelica and Brother Cornelius absent, they suffered a swift defeat.
After the battle, Rufen looked very disappointed and asked, “When will Lady Rosemine return?”
…Rufen-sensei must have completely forgotten that I’m no longer a knight apprentice.
Apparently, the Arensbach and Froebelthark cousins’ meeting had also concluded. They were questioned about why Ehrenfest’s grades had suddenly improved, why Lamprecht refused a marriage proposal, new trends, and were bombarded with questions.
“This spring’s lords’ council is going to be intense.”
“Indeed. We must watch Arensbach’s moves carefully and how the old Veronica faction responds.”
Additionally, I was indirectly asked by Rüdiger from Froebelthark about whether I had a fiancé, while Dietlinde inquired about Wilfried’s fiancé. Wilfried gave an evasive answer, saying he’d probably know by the time of the lords’ council.
“Could this mean Froebelthark might propose to me?”
Including my time as Reno, this might be my first marriage proposal. As I reread the wooden tag with excitement, the high priest sighed and took it away.
“It’s clearly a proposal for your mana. Why would you be pleased about that?”
