Today was the day to take measurements of Schwarz and WeiĂź. When the third bell rang, everyone was to head to the library and bring Schwarz and WeiĂź back to the dormitory.
The girls, who had desperately tried to finish their theoretical lessons by today, seemed to have all completed them since there was a little time left after my lecture ended. Their excitement about the measurements of Schwarz and WeiĂź combined with the relief from finishing their studies showed clearly in their radiant smiles.
"Just the fact that Schwarz and WeiĂź are coming to the Ehrenfest dormitory makes my heart beat faster," one of the girls said.
As part of their bridal training, the girls who were skilled at embroidery, making small accessories, and sewing clothes for relatives' babies or pets were scheduled to take the measurements today. Since I hadn’t really done much bridal training myself, I wasn’t exactly good at sewing.
…It’s not that I slacked off. I was asleep for two years, so it’s understandable. Sure, I’d rather spend my time reading books than on bridal training.
Honestly, I didn’t even know where or how to take the measurements. Schwarz and Weiß weren’t even human—they were large Shumil-types. So I wanted to leave it to the girls with high feminine skills.
“Lady Rosemine, I understand your curiosity, but please try to focus a bit more,” someone gently chided me.
While I practiced the Fischpiel in the multipurpose hall, Liselotte and the girls were happily preparing for the measurements with bright smiles.
Hilsure and the civil official apprentices were also there, preparing writing materials in an attempt to record even a bit of the magic circles said to be on Schwarz and Weiß’s stomachs. It seemed that these magic tools, created by the royal family long ago and with manufacturing methods lost to time, were filled with romance and secrets. For the civil official apprentices skilled in magic tool creation, this was an exciting event, and I could tell from their expressions that they were thrilled regardless of faction.
“Still, if such special paper exists, you could have told me sooner,” Hilsure said as he examined and touched the plant-based paper I had provided for recording what we had learned about Schwarz and Weiß.
He had heard reports from other teachers and students about the Ehrenfest students using unfamiliar paper and felt that he needed to check it when he next visited the dormitory.
“If you had stayed in the dormitory as its supervisor, Hilsure sensei, you would have seen it anyway. Lady Rosemine uses paper regularly here,” the civil official apprentices said in unison, noting that first-year students had created materials summarizing their weak points and recorded discussions to finish their lessons, so ordinarily the dorm supervisor would have noticed this earlier.
"Lady Rosemine, you might want to consider living in the dormitory while enrolled in the noble academy. It seems various things will continue to happen from now on."
“Yes. I think it would be better to report to Father more frequently than once a week. Rosemine causes so many incidents in just one week that daily reports might even be warranted,” Wilfried said.
I didn’t think I was causing that much trouble, so I hoped the reports could be kept as modest as possible.
The knight apprentices gathered a little further away, having a serious discussion about the details of the guard. The Guard Knights assigned as my protectors, who closely observed Schwarz and WeiĂź, knew better than I did just how valuable they were.
“Even just the mana stones attached to their vests are valuable, but Schwarz and Weiß are royal relics. We can expect multiple parties to attempt an ambush once they leave the library.”
“We’ve also confirmed the presence of a lord candidate who keeps persistently demanding that Schwarz and Weiß be handed over to Solange sensei.”
“Lady Rosemine has declared she will protect Schwarz and Weiß, and she will not back down even against higher-ranking lords. Understood?”
