"Heheh, heh heh."
I had been in a good mood since morning. Today, during lunch break, I was going to register as a user at the library. It would be my first time entering the noble academy’s library.
Actually, since last night before going to bed, Liselotte, who knew how excited and thrilled I was about the library registration, glanced around at the attendants who couldn’t keep up with my high spirits and smiled wryly.
“To be looking forward to this since last night, Lady Rosemine really does love the library, doesn’t she? I suppose your tastes don’t align at all with your older sister’s, who has never even set foot in the library.”
At breakfast, where all the attendants were gathered, Liselotte subtly let the male attendants who hadn’t seen me in the room know about my excitement.
Angelica puffed out her chest proudly.
“The knights order commander also said it’s good for a lord and their retainer to complement each other’s weaknesses. Lady Rosemine is good at studying but not so good at physical activity, while I’m the opposite. We make a very good pair.”
“If that’s the case, Lady Rosemine, when you learn physical enhancement and become better at moving your body, your older sister will need to study more to keep up.”
Angelica’s eyes widened slightly at Liselotte’s teasing, and everyone chuckled softly as breakfast ended.
Brynhildr suddenly looked up.
“Lady Rosemine, I forgot to tell you because Professor Hilsure was here yesterday, but the music teachers wanted to invite you to a tea party.”
At that, the upperclassmen exclaimed in surprise. They seemed excited and happy, but the first- and second-year students tilted their heads, not understanding the reaction.
“The third-years had a music practical exam yesterday afternoon.”
During the exam, they were asked, “Did Lady Rosemine perform a new piece during the first-year practical? Is it well known in Ehrenfest?” Because of this, classes of all levels—upper, middle, and lower—practiced pieces sold by the Plantin Trading Company, each tailored to their difficulty.
As a result, it became known that I had composed quite a few pieces already.
Brynhildr, who is my attendant apprentice, was called out after the practical and told that since first-years in Ehrenfest had completed their coursework, she would have time in the mornings. So she asked if she could accompany me.
Because the pieces I’d performed had been played at the high priest’s Fischpiel concert and were now sold as sheet music, my compositions had become relatively famous in Ehrenfest over the past two years.
The music teachers had taken an interest because, at the noble academy where cultures from all domains gather, there had suddenly appeared several highly original and completely different pieces.
This made me wonder, “It’s been about two years since I began selling sheet music, but no one performed them at the noble academy until now?”
“That’s because Ehrenfest’s policy was to gradually spread your works starting from your enrollment, Lady Rosemine.”
What I composed was basically made in the temple or downtown. Since I worked at the temple, the civil officials had no involvement, and even the high priest only received reports on sales and completed works.
Even when mentioned at the lords’ council, no one had the knowledge to answer questions or promote the pieces outside the domain, so there must have been a prior gag order to prevent their spread.
“Will Brynhildr be able to accompany you to the tea party?”
Feeling uneasy about going alone, I asked Brynhildr, who nodded vigorously with her shining amber eyes.
“Of course, I will accompany you. Being invited by the teachers means that the central government is taking an interest in Ehrenfest’s culture. It’s the first time I’ve had the opportunity to accompany you to such a prestigious event.”
Being invited to a teachers’ tea party was an honor, and as far as Brynhildr knew, Ehrenfest had never been invited before. Now I understood why the upperclassmen were so surprised and excited.
