Chapter 263: My First Little Sister 👧

Published: August 15, 2025

After returning to Ehrenfest, I collected the Lesser Holy Grails brought back by the Azure Priests from the various harvest festivals across the land and received reports about this year’s harvest yields and the situation in each region. I had to compile these reports from the Azure Priests and then head to the castle to report to the lord.

“Are you ready? Let’s go.”

“Yes!”

I rode my mount to the castle together with the high priest.

…Once this is over, I’ll have Yureve made for me.

Upon arriving at the castle, I parted ways with the high priest temporarily and headed to my private room in the North Wing with Richarda, who had come out to meet me, to change clothes.

“After the report to Aub Ehrenfest today, Princess Charlotte will be paying her greetings,” Richarda said.

“…Princess Charlotte? She’s Lord Wilfried’s younger sister, right?”

“Yes,” Richarda nodded emphatically.

“Princess Charlotte’s baptism ceremony is this winter, so they’re currently preparing the room and various arrangements.”

Now that I think about it, my mother took charge of preparing my room from the day of my baptism, too. In my case, I was immersed in noble education and wasn’t in a position to help with the room’s setup. But Charlotte was practicing commanding people and managing affairs to prepare her own room.

…Just from hearing about it, she sounds more competent than Lord Wilfried.

Thinking this, I entered the North Wing and climbed the stairs. The door to the adjacent room was wide open, and furniture was being carried in.

The person overseeing the room was a girl about my age or a bit shorter. She seemed to notice us climbing the stairs and turned around quickly. Her curly hair, nearly silver-golden, swayed, and her strikingly lively indigo eyes blinked rapidly in her doll-like, adorable face.

“Lady Rosemine, big sister!”

When our eyes met, Charlotte smiled joyfully and came toward us together with her attendants and guard knights.

…She called me “big sister”!

Just hearing the word “big sister” was enough. What more did I need to become Charlotte’s older sister other than that one word? Struck deeply by the adorable “big sister” smile, I trembled with emotion.

“I haven’t finished my baptism ceremony yet, so I can’t truly pray for your blessing, but may I offer my greetings?”

“Of course.”

Charlotte looked up slightly, checked the prayer words, then knelt and bowed her head.

“On this day of harvest guarded by the goddess of wind Shutzelia, guided by the gods, please allow me to pray for blessings upon this meeting.”

“Granted.”

“May Lady Rosemine receive the blessing of the goddess of wind Shutzelia… I am Charlotte of Aub Ehrenfest, daughter of the lord. I look forward to your kind favor.”

Although Charlotte couldn’t exchange blessings yet, she recited the prayer perfectly without mistake. I understood well how nervous she was for this first greeting. I myself had been nervous the first time I greeted my mother, worrying whether I’d say it correctly.

Seeing Charlotte kneeling like that reminded me of when my mother first spoke to me at my first greeting.

“Welcome, Charlotte. I am your older sister.”

Charlotte’s shoulders visibly relaxed at my words, and she looked up with a smile. I smiled back in kind.

“You did very well with your greeting.”

“Thank you very much. Since my siblings are all brothers, I’ve always wanted a big sister, so I’m very happy. Please be kind to me from now on.”

“I too… I’ve always wanted a little sister. I look forward to getting along well.”

…Charlotte is seriously adorable. She might become my angel after Tulli.

As I sighed in delight, Charlotte tilted her head slightly.

“Lady Rosemine, you’re the head priest, right? Will you be the one to bestow the blessing at my baptism ceremony?”

Her indigo eyes were full of expectation; it was clearly a request.

…Congratulations! My very first request! I must absolutely grant it. Yes, as her older sister!
